Hey,
This story has really been bugging me and I really have to vent and voice my opinion on it. For those unaware of the story I am mentioning, just do a Google search and you will find it.
I will NOT post the horrific video. If you want to check it out, I believe it is on YouTube. First off, I happen to be a dog lover, so my opinion is gonna be biased. I don't give a damn.
Second, we are supposed to trust and have faith in the police, but after what I just saw in those video clips, that is out the freakin' window. Protect and serve, my ass.
I will agree that Leon Rosby somewhat instigated a police confrontation, but did not deserve to be arrested. That is a joke. Sure, he had his music blaring in his car and was video-taping the police on a public street, but he is well within his rights to do that. He was doing no wrong, not in my eyes anyway.
Then, he puts his dog in his car and should have just drove away. But then, he gets handcuffed and arrested. His loyal dog sees what's going on and unfortunately Rosby's windows aren't up far enough to stop the dog from jumping out and that's what happens. The dog jumps out to defend his owner and here comes a third officer with gun already drawn and tries to grab the dog's leash and of course the dog would lash out because that's a stranger to him and he's just trying to protect his owner.
So, the dog jumps at the cop and the cop shoots him 4 times. I'm sorry, but using a gun should be the last resort they have to go to. There are other options to go with such as pepper spray, taser, etc. And 4 times?? Come on...I think one would've been enough. 4 shots to bring down a dog?? Come on, give me a break. That's a bit excessive, in my opinion.
How are we supposed to trust cops after that?? That situation did NOT call for lethal action like that. Not at all. It's just another tragic case of police abusing their power.
And now, the police officers that were involved in the video have been pulled from street duty, due to the numerous death threats they have been getting.
Anonymous has also posted a video warning the Hawthorne Police that this matter will not remain un-resolved. They say they do not forgive or forget and to expect them.
I will tell you all right now, cops or not, if someone did that to my dog, I wouldn't let it go. Not a ing chance. Dogs/cats can be considered as members of the family and if someone harmed them, especially people who we are supposed to trust, I just couldn't let it go. I don't know what I'd do, but it wouldn't be nice. That's for sure.
