Hey, Just wanted to make a quick post here. The other day on eBay, I bid on and won the last figure I needed to complete my MOC collection of 1976 Mattel Welcome Back Kotter figures, Washington!! Washington was played by Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs. Not bad shape for a figure which is nearly 40 years old!! So glad I got him!! And here's the rest of the collection.

Do you have the classroom that they released for these figures?

Never wanted the Kotter figures, but I did want the Happy Days Fonzie figure, but my dad wouldn't allow it. I never knew why...he just said no to Happy Days figures. But every other Mego, LJN, GI Joe, Big Jim lines he never had any issues with me getting.

Getting the last piece of collection is a great. They look really good. Never wanted the Kotter figures, but I did want the Happy Days Fonzie figure, but my dad wouldn't allow it. I never knew why...he just said no to Happy Days figures. But every other Mego, LJN, GI Joe, Big Jim lines he never had any issues with me getting. My father hated the show. Maybe that's why I never had Happy Days figures, lol. The only Mego style TV figures I remember owning were CHiPs.

How much did you pay for it? I paid about $50 for it, which I don't think is too bad. That figure has eluded me for a while now, but I finally got him. There have been other eBay auctions in the past, but it either went for too much or the "Buy it Now" price was too high, but when I saw this one, I had to jump at the chance. I just think it's remarkable that it's still in the package after all these years. I love the vintage figures. Reminds me of being a kid all over again. And yes, Antivenom, they are quite exceptional for the time. I mean, way back then, there was only so much you could do. It was much more limited to the possibilities, but now, it's totally different. For 1976, I think they all turned out great. And I'm glad the cards show their wear over time with bends and rips and stuff. It gives them an aged look, which I happen to like. And no, Grumpyoldman, I do not have the rare classroom set. However, I did see one on eBay right now, but the starting bid is $230 and the "Buy it Now" is $300!! Yikes!!

^ Oh geez, I have no idea what they originally sold for. I wasn't alive in 1976, so I couldn't tell you. If I had to guess, I'd say about $5 or $6 maybe. Maybe a bit more, I'm not sure. You gotta remember, way back then, EVERYTHING was cheaper. They may have seemed expensive for that time period, but compared to now, it was way cheaper. No two-ways about it. The prices on figures today is outrageous.

Wow...and I thought toy lines were ridiculous in the eighties and nineties. Those look way cool! I wish I were alive to experience the Mego and Mego-esque lines. I definitely think you should save up for the classroom.

Just curious if you were not alive in 76 then how do these remind you when you were a kid? Yeah, I remember watching re-runs for sure, but I think it's just that look and style of the figures back then that remind me of being a kid. Here's another vintage figure/doll I remember seeing many times as a kid. This is a picture of one on eBay, but I own it myself now.
