That's a pretty cool move on WWE's part with that statement. Nice to know that there is an openly gay superstar in WWE especially in this current day and age, and good for Young that he decided to come out.

I dont get this, I hate the way everyones all over this guy just because he came out. I dont think its the kinda thing that people need to be congratulating him on really, I mean who congratulates people on their personality? or genetic programming? really? People always think I' gay (I bleached my hair white/blonde for years) I'm not the usual guy talking about women all the time or having to out macho my other guy friends. everytime I had to tell someone I wasn't gay I didnt feel the need to have some sort of "Staying in" party. I get that coming out to your parents would be maybe hard, because their generation didnt understand being gay it wasn't a part of society back then. Now everyone and their mother is gay (not literally, its a saying) Yeah, I agree but I think in the case of being gay it's probably one of those things where you can't understand why it's such a big deal unless you're actually gay. Even though it's 2013 and there is generally an acceptance and even encouragement towards being gay, I'd imagine it takes a lot of guts to come out and actually say it knowing full well that it could affect your relationships with friends/ family/ colleagues. It's kind of like this scene in south park: So yeah, whilst WWE has changed a lot over the last 10 years or so, I'd imagine it is still very much an alpha male culture and he came out knowing full well that articles like this would start popping up. Probably wasn't easy to do this. Hats off to him.

Good for him, doesn't surprise me though. Takes guts to say so being in such a high profile company. I wish him the best of luck

I don't even understand why all this coming out stuff is an issue, you're orientation shouldn't be broadcast to the world, it's supposed to be a personal part of your life.

If any of you have heard Cenas response that should tell you why he has been the man for so long. What a professional.

Doesn't change me being a fan of him. It takes guts to come out, especially in wwe.

Nobody should make a big deal out of this, IMO. Not TMZ, not WWE, not us. Nobody.
He's just another human being who happens to love people of his same sex. Nothing that deserves that much importance, really.

This has absolutely no reason to be out in public. Why is everyone acting like he just got married or had a child orsomething? What is there to congratulate him about? Its not like he just became gay over night..

Proud of him. Also the way Cena responded shows why he is on top, such a professional.

I hope this gets the Prime Time Players on TV more. I hope it doesn't result in them splitting and D-Young turning babyface or something. Article has been put on WWE.com and apparently the WWE are supporting Darren. Considering that WWE set the "interview" up to get some positive buzz in time for SummerSlam, it's not exactly a surprise that they're supporting him.

I can seriously see Young getting a singles push, which I'm fine with but I'd rather PTP stay together.

For those not understanding the importance of this - This is a positive step forward because it opens doors for people, in this case homosexuals, to not be afraid to come out. It's a huge weight off his shoulders and now he can be an inspiration for others. People still live in fear to be outed in this world thanks to silly issues and laws like not allowing gay people to marry. I'm very happy for him and just like in wrestling, I love underdog stories. So I hope he continues to have a successful career... AND I hope WWE can take a step forward by NOT turning his character into some flamboyant or "strange" character who humps other wrestlers!!! Millions of dollars, player!!!

This is beautiful news. Finally someone on the roster was brave enough to come out publically. Nothing needs to change, except maybe to push the Prime Time Players and keep the embers of the tag team division hot, hopefully one day to break out into fire. To all the ignorant people who believe this will affect his career, the 80's are back that way. Being gay isn't an issue and shouldn't be an issue for anybody. To the moron who said "wrestlers will be uncomfortable wrestling him". Man, how ignorant can one person be? I assume you don't have any female friends? or female colleagues? seeing as you can't do anything together without molesting each other... Being a gay male doesn't mean you're attracted to every single male you know and meet. Just like how you aren't attracted to every female you meet. To the guy who said why is it a big deal? Well it shouldn't be, but the homophobic society of the past and the remaining homophobes of the present made/make being gay an issue. Celebrities coming out and Gay pride events are needed to help gay people know that it's fine and perfectly normal to be gay. No, you don't have a heterosexual pride parade or anything like that, but you also aren't given funny looks or the recipient of violence for loving a person of the same gender as you. Unfortunately, your biology decides whether or not you are gay. Much like your biology decides what colour eyes and hair you have. The day a gay man can walk down the street holding his partners hand and get married to the person they love, whilst enjoying the full benefits a heterosexual married couple can enjoy, that's the day celebrities coming out isn't important. A big day for homosexuality, today Very proud of Darren Young. Pushing someone for being gay would be just as bad as firing them for being gay. Unless he gets exactly the same treatment that he would get for being straight then there's still a huge problem.

I really don't care or see how this is important. Gay or not, he is still the second worst wrestler in WWE, next to Titus O'Neil. Also, I'm pretty sure he is not the first gay wrestler in WWE, as some websites are claiming. There has got to be more before him.
