A very ballsy decision to come out and tell everyone! As other people said they're many other gay wrestlers out there too

He seems like a real humble dude as oppose to his on screen character. Darren Young is obviously good at channeling his in ring persona so I cant see why they would hold such talent back other than prejudice.

I hope this gets the Prime Time Players on TV more. I hope it doesn't result in them splitting and D-Young turning babyface or something. Article has been put on WWE.com and apparently the WWE are supporting Darren. Considering that WWE set the "interview" up to get some positive buzz in time for SummerSlam, it's not exactly a surprise that they're supporting him. Do you seriously think WWE set this up? I don't.

I really don't care or see how this is important. Gay or not, he is still the second worst wrestler in WWE, next to Titus O'Neil. Also, I'm pretty sure he is not the first gay wrestler in WWE, as some websites are claiming. There has got to be more before him. First OPENLY Gay WWE wrestler. Orlando Jordan did not at any time before or during his time with the WWE make light of the fact that he was gay. Does this matter or should he have? No. No one should HAVE to address something that makes them different from everyone else. So no, Darren isn't the first or the last. He's just the first to come out and say it, while currently employed with the WWE.

Guys there have been gay wrestlers before but no one has ever come out while still being on the active WWE roster. OJ didn't reveal himself to be bisexual until he was released. Chris Kanyon (RIP) waited until he was retired. So this is kinda big.
And I gotta say after watching the tmz videos with him and cena, I am damn pround of Darren for his guts. He stood there all alone and wasn't even asked if he personally was gay. I'm sure it was just a tmz stock question, they do like to ask a lot of gay related questions. But he just stood there tall and came out to the world like it was nothing. Much respect for him. We live in a day and age where everyone is tolerant. This isn't 15 years ago where someone becomes a laughing stock when revealing they're homosexuality. People are now praised for it.

He's just the first to come out and say it, while currently employed with the WWE. wasnt pat patterson the first one I don't think Patterson ever publically came out in any way. Instead of whispers or dirt sheets, this is an active wrestler during their tenure with the largest professional wrestling company in the world coming out and standing up for the kind of person he is, which carries a very negative stigma with it depending on the environment. Professional Wrestling in general has a stigma about it, and when those that wish to poke fun or make crude jokes about, where is the first place they go? "A bunch of sweaty guys in tights rolling around together" So the fact that Darren was willing to come out, in an industry that already casts a negative shadow on homosexuality, makes it that much more of a statement. Like I said, this shouldn't be a big deal. But being a "gay" man or woman and showing the world that you are capable of doing the same things as a "straight" man or woman is something that a lot of people are still astonished by. Which is sad.

The way he acted about it, it seems as if this was probably common knowledge to the locker room and he just decided to let the public know because of the way the question struck him. Good for him he shouldn't have to hide who he is to the public, lets just hope WWE doesn't exploit him in any way for this

Me neither. I thought it was already well known that he was. Plus the article is wrong, Pat Patterson was the first openly gay wrestler (followed by Steve Lombardi). Young is the first openly gay active roster member. Patterson wasn't full time during the Attitude Era and he wasn't out (publicly) when he was wrestling full time. Lombardi has never come out. There may be rumors or whatever but he's never come out and even if he is gay, he wasn't out during his career. And people saying it was obvious. How was it obvious? I never would have guessed. Chris Kanyon and Orlando Jordan were openly gay and bisexual.

That's great for Darren Young to come out and admit that he's a happily gay man. He seemed matter of fact and didn't hesitate much when he said that he was gay. Doesn't change the fact that I'm still a fan of the Primetime Players and wished that they would get a better spot in the cards. I hope that with people like D-Young coming out and telling the world who they are can encourage others to be able to express their sexuality and themselves more freely without being judged and it appears that as time goes on, this won't be such a big matter.

Do you seriously think WWE set this up? I don't. No, I'm sure TMZ always hang around the airports asking lower-card wrestlers what they think about gayness in wrestling. If you actually watch the interview, you'll see how contrived and set-up it all is. The camera guy is a worse actor than any of the divas. His selling of the "big announcement" is awful. WWE found a new way to get some publicity in time for SummerSlam, and it's pretty cool. It pretty much ensures Darren Young won't be fired anytime soon as well.

Well we all know who Pat Patterson is dating now Jk Anyways good for him. If anything it's job security. WWE can use him as the ambassador for the Be A ★ campaign. And also he can possibly be a good role model to all the gay wrestling fans out there who think it's frowned upon to be gay. I think Darren has only just began to increase his stock.
