WWE.com has a photo gallery of never before seen Hogan photos.
In photo #66 he is wearing a title that I've never seen before. He's clearly in a WWF ring around (I'm guessing) 1986-7ish.
I would post it, but I'm posting this from my phone, & it's a giant pain.

It almost looks like a larger version of the NWA 6 man tag titles....Really weird, Ive never seen the photo or the belt before.

I'm guessing this is the pic. I have to say, it almost looks like it's photoshoped in, which wouldn't make any sense, since as far as I know the WWE is allowed to use the pictures of all the belts they've used. The only thing I can think of is maybe it was another version of the WWF title that Hogan had that didn't last long. I mean in his first reign, he had, what was it, four different belts, before the Winged Eagle was settled on.

I pride myself on having a good grasp on wrestling's history, but I have never seen that belt. I hope that someone knows the answer to this.

The only other explanation I can think of if it's a legit pic, is maybe for whatever reason, that show, Hogan didn't have the belt, and that was just some belt they had available to fill in for the WWF Title. By the looks of it, I figure that's Paul Orndorff he's in the ring with, but I can't find any video of this encounter with them.

that is the NWA 6 Man tag belt It certainly looks like it, but why would Hogan be wearing it in the mid 80's? This has to be photoshopped, but then again, why would WWE photoshop a picture they own the copy right to?

The side plates seem to have flags on it, so maybe they were going for an NWA world title look here? I'm thinking this has to be a trial version of the belt and someone thought it didnt look good and they changed it..
Maybe it was too NWA like and Vince wanted people to look at his product totally differently and didn't want anything to remind fans of the NWA.

The more I look at it, the more I think it's just a version of this belt and the glare from the arena lights/Camera hide the blue in the middle (You can sort of see a flash there) The side plates look sort of like they have different flags, so it could just be an earlier version of this belt, but I'm almost 100% sure its just this Belt design with a bigger main plate Or a slightly altered version of it with different side plates. But it has more in common with this belt then the 6 Man tag IMO edit Here is another pic of Hogan and his belts, in this one he has 2 versions of the 86 title, and knowing about the unused Andre belt makes me think even more they had even more versions of this belt they maybe tested once or twice.. still trying to find something thats closer though.. What I'm going on is a Canadian/Japanese flag on the side plate and a more rounded main plate with the a blue earth in the centre

That isn't the WWF Title that was made for Andre if he beat Hogan at WM 3 is it??
I know the belt was supposed to be bigger, and maybe Hogan wore it in matches against Orndorff before WM 3??

I belong to a belt forum, www.belttalk.com and there have been numerous topics regarding this. It was a one-off belt that WWF used during Hogan's 1985 reign. There have not been any other photos of the belt other than this one and screencaps from the video of the match. Even guys like Dave Millican and Reggie Parks have been asked about it, nobody knows.

In the hi Res version of this pic, you can see it is a photo of Hogan in the center of the belt!

just gonna throw this bit of speculation out there:
perhaps this is the "Phantom" 1987 Hulk Hogan Belt?
what the hell am I talking about? WrestleMania III. Hogan vs Andre. got to the 2:40:00 mark:
Gorilla Monsoon says "This is the final time Jess, win, lose,or draw, for the Hulkster to wear that particular Belt into the ring."
yet,the next time we see Hogan on TV,he's still wearing the same 1986-style Belt he had been wearing. we don't see him NOT wear that particular Belt until Feb. 1988. and it seems kinda weird for Monsoon to just bring that up for no reason. not even talking about Andre's custom Belt. he specifically says Mania III is the last time Hogan will be wearing that particular Belt,no matter the outcome of the match.
my thought is,perhaps this was meant to be the new Belt hogan was to carry from that point on? it's certainly feasible, since Orndorff was still a heel until the fall of 1987. and in those days,we didn't have a weekly live show, and the Champion rarely made appearances on TV unless it was to hype something specific, and the next big card wouldn't be until November 1987,so it's possible hogan might not have appeared on TV in a match until months after Mania III. so I submit, that this is possibly the new Belt for Hogan after Mania III, but at some point they either didn't like the design,or Hogan didn't or something,so they dropped it and went back to the 1986 Belt, until a new one could be designed and made, which would be the Winged Eagle.
