Bryan Cranston.
If this turns out to be true, I think it's a perfect fit. Breaking Bad is coming to a close and this is a great role that I think Cranston will flourish in.

Kinda shocked the answer isn't Matt Damon. He would definitely bring a whole lot to the part, but I am kind of glad he isn't in the super hero game

I'm okay with the choice, my only beefs with this would be A) He's really old and B) I don't see him being the type that can play the slick businessman side of Luthor. Intense, deep-seated hate I can see, but public relations-conscious Luthor doesn't seem to be a great fit for him. I was hoping for Mark Strong, but word on the grapevine is that he might still be in the mix as Sinestro. If they go that route, I hope they write Reynolds/Hal Jordan out of the Justice League story and go forward with John Stewart.
Also hoping Damon isn't a part of this world. I'm not a fan of him at all.

My top choice is Mark Strong. After that I still hold hope that Clancy Brown could get it, but I fear he is too old.
Cranston is certainly a choice I would not be against, but I'm not certain I'm really for it either.

I want a real unknown to play Luther. Not a big name. They already have Cavill and Affleck on board, let's go with someone nobody has heard of so they won't give him the 'Affleck' treatment.

I don't know about that. He's a good actor but too old and ugly to play Luthor.

I like Cranston(GREAT actor IMO) but he is totally unsuitable for Luthor in my book.I prefer Luthor to be closer in age to Superman and in his prime.

Ryan Reynolds' Hal Jordan is arguably the worst comic book movie superhero ever. Reynolds himself is just a grating, annoying actor that moviegoers largely do not turn out to see. I think adding him to the equation at this point is a net negative. The other option is to recast him, and I think we can agree that recasting characters in connected sequels is the worst thing ever. Marvel is learning to diversify their casts... I'd be pretty surprised if DC/WB doesn't follow suit.

how do you mean man?
if you mean the use of the Ultimate Model Nick Fury/Sam L then yes it was a great move because that version of Fury is much more interesting than the regular one IMO.
however if you mean the proposed change of race for Johnny Storm in the FF reboot over at Fox I couldnt be more against it.they should never do this with main characters.Heimdall in Thor was fine but NOT main characters.and before anyone says it I would be furious if Falcon,Blade,Storm,Bishop,Cage,Warpath,Sunfire etc etc were cast as any other race as well.
but I feel it may be a moot point....I think GL may be rebooted after this proposed JL movie(something I have no confidence in BTW)).and at this time they need to use Hal.Stewart is a dire character.always has been and always will be.I love the JL toon but the fact that Stewart was chosen to be the GL over Rayner grates on me to this day.

Bryan Cranston is an incredible actor. So I'm willing to see him play pretty much whatever role the studio feels he can pull off. I think Cranston fits in a number of different roles inside the Batman universe that people have proposed (Gordon, Hugo Strange, Earth One Alfred), but he is a bit old for Luther imo. I just personally like the Smallville dynamic where you feel like Clark and Lex are almost peers. Cranston is definitely going to feel like the 30 year old Cavill's elder, being nearly twice his age. Again though, it's hard to knock the casting choice when I think Cranston is just a great actor.
For me, even though tons of people knock Superman Returns, Kevin Spacey really played an incredible Lex and set the bar for the role imo, even more so than Hackman. I think Spacey was 46 when he did Returns and Superman was supposed to be established in the timeline at that point, even though Routh was a fresh 27 at the time. So it's not like we haven't seen an older Lex historically. Personally, I think had they not tried to give Clark and Louise a kid, that Routh would probably still be Superman right now. Spacey in that film is one of my favorite villain portrayals to-date.

Never came across as the comic book Lex to me. I think Michael Rosenbaum has been the best Luthor overall though... but it's pretty obvious that he won't even be a consideration from WB.

I have been trying to think who would make a good Luthor on & off for a while now.cant really nail anyone down.
Cranston however would make an EXCELLENT Jim Gordon.thats great stuff from whoever posted it above.Oldman was just so good as Jim too.

It was horrible that he was the one they used for the Justice League cartoon just to add diversity. Out of all the different characters to play the Lantern, John Stewart is the absolute worse followed by Guy Gardner. Kyle Rayner is okay but Hal Jordan is THE Green Lantern. A simple recast will do since Reynolds did a bad job at the role, no need to replace the best Lantern with a character that has the personality of a rice cake. If they need diversity put in the Cyborg or something.
