I never really understood why Mattel's jackets and coats are molded where there is no movement (Ex: Edge and Undertaker). If Mattel can make a movable jacket for E4 John Morrison is it to much of a hassle to give the same idea to the normal rubber coats and jackets?

It comes down to cost issues. A rubber coat is one piece so it'd require articulation for decent movement, and that's not going to happen. Cloth gear still pops up from time to time, like Sandow's robe.

In one way I like the rubber coats but hate the shirts in another no movement only display when on

A lot of times it's due to details. For example, at that scale a Goldust or Regal robe wouldn't be as good. As far as guys like Taker and Edge, I have no reasoning.

I for one love the harder coats. They look great on my shelf.

Certain coats like Edge's and Miz's wouldn't look right in fabric.

Certain coats like Edge's and Miz's wouldn't look right in fabric. Yeah. If I remember right Jakks had a more flimsy feel to their jackets and coats. That's what I would prefer with Mattel jackets/coats so it pleases everyone

Because they didn't want to do those ones like this where you only had the coat-on option: And because a lot of them need a detail or look that they couldn't represent in cloth (like Edge, Miz, Regal, Goldust etc), and because the cloth coats always look atrocious. They tried a cloth coat with one Undertaker (the Entrance Great) and it's awful-looking.

I also agree that the Rubber Jackets look better for certain wrestlers. Could you imagine Jericho's Glow in the Dark jacket as cloth?

I mean yeah, I'm fine with rubber jackets. It just comes down to that I would prefer them to be more flemsy for movement. A jacket/coat staying molded in one position only pleases so many wrestling figure fans. That being said, I'm not on the good receiving end.

It's not rubber it's plastic. Common mistake. Thanks for pointing it out.

A lot of times it's due to details. For example, at that scale a Goldust or Regal robe wouldn't be as good. As far as guys like Taker and Edge, I have no reasoning. Jakks made very good robes in those styles for Ric Flair in red, green, and blue. I have the red and green robes and they look great on my Mattel fix-ups. And a certain spam site makes some very good cloth robes and coats that look great as well. So it is possible. But, as others have said, I think they are too expensive for Mattel to produce without dropping accessories from other figures in the same series so we get the non-posable plastic jackets and robes.

I think plastic jacket cost lesser to make than cloth.
