I was watching a 20/20 vid and it had this as a related link. Right away I thought of some of the people on this thread. My personal views towards Ron I found this video intersting just because of one thing. If you were seriously wanting to be president of the United States why would you agree to go on a show that is a circus of sorts?
Also I thought it was interesting that Ron has been trying to be president since 1988, if not earlier.

This is one of the most ridiculous attempts at discrediting him I've ever seen.

Honestly I was not trying to say anything negative about Ron. I was just wondering why he would appear on such a program. Why he would let himself get drawn into a shouting match. And I was kinda surprised to see he's been trying to be president since 1988. And then what I'll say next will be anti Ron.......... I found it funny he had the nerve to say he was all for constitutional rights here in 1988. But fast foward to 2010 an he's all for the constitution, but only for certain people not everyone. Kinda like he flip flopped some on his views. Also I'll add this. Im not sure about nixon, that was before my time. Clinton playing Sax is him showing the American people he had a hobby. Obama on Snl was prob also a PR move in which he went on a comedy show and was in on the act. Where as poor Ron here, even if it was staged, appears to be bashed and put down.

He wasn't running as a Republican then so he'd have to get his message out someway so he appeared on the show I guess. Maybe it was the only show that would have him? I don't know. George HW Bush got into a shouting match with Dan Rather in 1988. I know Rather is a journalist but it still happened. Maybe 1988 was just the year of the shouting match. He's ran 3 times. 1988, 2008 and 2012. Views can change in 22 years. I don't know why he'd change or if he just wasn't espousing those views back then. I'm not the man so I don't know if or when his views changed. The Constitution isn't a perfect document. It has some major flaws. People just argue over which parts are flawed. (Though there are those who cling to every word it says even if those parts go against what they stand for). Why do Republicans go on Bill Maher's show? They get shouted at by Bill but they continue to go on.

But fast foward to 2010 an he's all for the constitution, but only for certain people not everyone. Kinda like he flip flopped some on his views. and your basis for this statement is..? My basis for what I said is Ron Paul himself. He said the 14th Amendment needed to be modified because it shouldnt be granted to everyone. Basicly he was saying the government should be the ones who decide who can be a citizen and who shouldnt regardless of you being born in the United States. So you see in 1988 he wanted to use the constitution to make dope legal. So in that case the constitution was something that he felt gave him the right to do what he pleased. He tried to use the constitution as a tool to help him and his cause. Fast forward to his most recent presidential run he wanted to change the constitution. The amendment which many people use as a tool to get citizenship in the United States was targeted by Ron. He felt that it should be up to the government to decide who gets to be born a citizen and who is born into being a non citizen. How would this be determined? Just by what race you are? Anyway, you see what he did? Or what he tried to do? He flip flopped. He was all for using the constitution as a tool to help himself saying that the government shouldnt decide what drugs we can and can not use in 1988. But then in 2010 he changed his mind. Ron thought the constitution was wrong and that it should be up to the goverment to decide who can and who can not be a citizen. Of course though some people will tell you that I am wrong and that Ron Paul is the greatest thing since Sliced Bread.

I'd imagine there's been more threads with people arguing about Ron Paul in them then there are in the entire photoshopped figures board. Lol. It's probably somewhere in the 200's by now. It seems like every weeks some kind of new political arguement goes on.

I mean here you have a man wanting to make drugs legal. Right away some people will say "this guy must be a dope head". And then he wants to give the government the power to decide who is and who isnt a citizen in 2010. Meanwhile at the same time in 2010 the media is saying Ron Paul had a racist news letter for years. IDK if the man wrote it or not, but isnt it too much of a coincidence that some people are calling him a racist while Ron himself is saying we need to change how we determine who is and isnt a citizen? Like I ask above, how would this be determined? Randomly? Would race play a factor? It just seemed like a pretty drastic mind change to me. Especially when you want to be president and are under the media microscope like that. I've never seen the Bill Mhar show so I cant comment on that. I do know though that this Morton Downey show is a circus. Look at what his guests are wearing. A gardian angle in street gear? That guy with the pink trim coat and checkered shirt? Right away you know this wont go very far as a productive appearance. Yet there Ron sat during the whole interview.

I know some people on here are very fond of Ron Paul, that's their right to say they love the man. I was more interested to see how people would respond to the video as opposed to bashing Ron. I know in my previous posts I let you know what I think of him to a certain extent.

I think if you live here and want to be a citizen, congratulations you're a citizen. Especially those who risk their lives to get here. I think he wants both (maybe just one) parents to be a citizen in order for the child to become a citizen. You don't become one just for being born here, you have to have a parent who is as well. I guess that's his view. Reagan was a Democrat and then became a Republican god so extreme change can happen. I don't get attacking him because he went on some TV show. You have some valid criticisms but I don't think this is one of them. If Obama can use SNL (where they've had much worse things than what those guys were wearing) for PR then I think Paul could use this show for PR.

He's been retired for 9 months. He hasn't been a Presidential candidate in over a year. You don't have to worry about him anymore (though you never really had to in the first place).

Because what's the point in bringing it up? It's from 25 years ago. This was before his huge movement in 2008. He's not even relevant today. Lets post Bob Dole's viagra commercial and talk about how laughable it is that he could have been President. There are others that could be singled out for doing ridiculous things. None of whom (including Paul) are relevant. I don't get it.

I am a fan of Ron Paul but don't get why he would go on there either. A show where the host and the crowd are all against him no matter how much sense he makes. If all drugs were legal and made to be 21+ it would get rid of a lot of drug crimes. Police could focus more on solving the thousands of rape cases that have been ignored since the day the woman/man left the police station. The money could be used to lower taxes for the rest of us. People wouldn't be killing people on the streets to steal there drugs. Cops could be more focused on breaks ins, missing people, and murder cases. Ron Paul made a lot of sense then and now. Why those people didn't understand then I don't know. Just like what he said in that video is coming true. Schools are now cracking down telling kids what they can and can not eat. I mean a kid brings a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and gets it taken away saying its not healthy. Yet there is teachers ignoring children who come to school with bruises or have social disorders. Focus on mental health of the children ahead of physical health. The majority of people who are obese have suffered from some form of social or mental disorder which caused them to turn to food to eat out their pain or push people away.

Seems every time Paul is brought up he attacks him so I had the crazy thought that this was just another instance of him doing that. So he happened to post something that wasn't anti-Paul for once. I'm supposed to assume that this wasn't another attempt at attacking him? Al Sharpton was on Downey's show and ran for President (though years later). Why did he go on if he ever wanted to be taken seriously?
