Hey guys. Not sure if this is the right spot but I had a couple questions about New York Comic Con that I couldn't find on the site. So I'm going with a group of 5. Everyone is over 21 except for my brother who is 16. So he has to stay with me.
My major question is how many people are allowed in a photo op? At Wizard World we were allowed 2 people per photo op. Is that the case here?
If I'm waiting on line to meet someone can he be on line with me for free? We were able to do that at Wizard World and while my brother didn't get an autograph or a pic, he got to talk to the people and meet them. Sara Underwood was even nice enough to ask him to join in on our picture together.
Finally, I see for the cosplay contest it says pre-registration is required. I'm assuming that's for competing but does anyone know if that relates to attending as well?

Anyone have any info on this? Maybe people that have gone before?
Another question I forgot is are they ATMs around the Javitz Center? A lot of the stuff is cash only but I don't want to carry a bunch of cash around.

I don't do photo ops, so I can't help you there.
The pre-registration for cosplay is for the contests only. If you wanna show up in a costume, you don't need to sign up to do that - just do it.
There are ATMs, but they are generic banks, so they'll charge you an arm and a leg in fees. Good news is a lot of vendors will be able to take cards using any number of those smart phone swiping deals. A much smaller con I was at this past weekend introduced me to that. Hang onto cash though, 'cause if you are planning on paying for any photos or autographs, that is ALL the guests will take.
If you have the means, get the NYCC app. It's been very helpful in planning my weekend.

I got the app over the weekend and I pretty much have my day planned out and I have a rough idea of how much cash I'm gonna need. The app helped with that a lot. I also found out the guy that did my tattoo is gonna be there signing autographs. It will be cool if I can catch up with him. As for the pre-registration thing, I wasn't planning on wearing a costume but I did want to watch the contest. Do you thing I can still get in to watch?

Oh, most definitely. Last time I went was '09, but it was essentially held in the middle of the show floor. Based on the growth in size, it might be in a panel room, but the final program they give you at the door will tell you all that.

Thanks. I've never had the urge to dress up but it's a lot of fun to watch. Some of the costumes are awesome.

Photo ops and how many people allowed in each depends on the vendor/celeb. Like for Stallone its a max of 2 people. You will find others that 5 people can get in it.

Do you know if my brother can wait on lines with me if he's not getting anything? Depends. Not gonna happen for someone like Stallone. But some of the names, absolutely. Honestly I would say...most of the names, minus the big ones like Stallone, Moretz, Hogan, etc.

I'm almost kind of bummin' about NYCC this year. I just did a local con this past weekend that brought in Rob Paulsen, Jess Harnell, Richard Horvitz, and Quinton Flynn. First autograph from each guy was free, then each additional was $20, but each and every one of them was insanely super personable and humble and just awesome to meet. At the 20 Years of Animaniacs panel that they held, Rob Paulsen picked my wife out of the crowd to appreciate her Pinky & the Brain sweatshirt, had her ask him if he was 'pondering was she was pondering', responded in Pinky's voice, then came out from behind the table and gave her a big hug. She digs on Animaniacs the way some of the guys here dig on wrestling. I'm jonesing to meet some of the guests at NYCC next weekend, but I know in a million, billion years, that none of them will come close to offering the sort of gracious attitude these guys did this weekend, and they want three digits for some of their autographs?

Stallone isn't gonna be there when I'm going so that's not a problem. My brother can pay for a Hogan autograph. Everyone else that I'm planning on seeing isn't really that big of a name so we shouldn't have problems.
