I didn't really get a chance to start collecting Mattel figures until last year. I had bought a figure here and there in the past, like Entrance Greats Shawn Michaels, but that's all. I had then won a contest done by member Warheart, and that sold me on collecting. I had won a Basic Wrestlemania Heritage Steve Austin and man, I loved the figure. It sold me on Mattel, and I had just gotten a job so the stars aligned. I spent maybe $300 buying a bunch of figures from Ringside with my first paycheck. As the holiday season approached I promised myself I was gonna buy the Ringside Exclusive Masked Kane. I bought everything I wanted EXCEPT Masked Kane because it had sold out.
It's been about a year and I had given up on Masked Kane. I've gotten pretty lucky with my collection but that gap would always exist. Last night, I had planned on ordering their Lesnar exclusive and the Hardcore Kane exclusive. Then I saw a post that said they were adding Loose Exclusives to their site. I figured because the topic was more than an hour old I wouldn't get anything but there I saw Kane. Without a second thought I pulled the trigger, and then the figure arrived today. My collection is, as far as I'm concerned, up to date.
This Kane is without a doubt my favorite figure that Mattel has done. I'd say that out of my collection: Cactus Jack, SDCC Ministry Undertaker, and Elite 16 CM Punk come really, really close. The headscan is great, and the mask fits nicely. There's FANTASTIC detail on the mask. It even has painted straps behind it. The attire is spot on, all the way to having shiny boots and a shiny glove. The straps are great, they could've been molded but they're fine just the way that they are. What I love most about the figure is that it basically doubles as two figures. You've got the 2003 Masked Kane, and then you take the mask off and you've got a 2003 Heel Kane, two COMPLETELY different characters...and they both are AWESOME. The shackles are an even better touch, though kind of a bitch to get off/on.
Ringside shipped the Kane in a Glad Bag with the Mask and Towel off of Kane, and the Shackles on him. The figure is in near perfect condition asside from some sort of residue on the hair...I ran it under water and it didn't come off so I'm gonna try to scrub it tomorrow. No biggie. For the price, it's a steal. So thank you, Ringside. Where the hell did you find all of these loose figures?!
