I was just reading xtremer18's thread about donating the BAF Cena figure to Toys For Tots. With the holiday season coming up, I think it would be cool if we, as the wrestlingfigs community, all tried to each make a donation. There's a lot of us here and even at one figure a piece that would help out.
There's even a way to do it to help yourself out in a round about way. Normally each Christmas I'll buy a few shelf warmers and donate them. That way some kid is getting a John Cena, Rey Mysterio, or whomever, and its getting rid of a few of the figures clogging the pegs around me.
So if you've got the extra cash, or if you happen upon a good deal (such as buy one get one for a percentage off) why not pick up an extra and donate.
Also if you've got some other ideas to help out, post them here.

I will be doing this, but for a local charity. I agree that it's a great thing to do, if you can afford it.
Take advantage of those Black Friday BOGO sales, especially!

Exactly. It doesnt necessarily have to be Toys For Tots. Any organization taking up toys for kids in need works just as well.
Heres another idea if anyone at ringside reads this maybe they can make it possible to make a donation at checkout.

And remember that Toys For Tots does distribute any donated items in the area that they were donated in. They don't ship them away to other parts of the country. So you'll be helping out kids in your own local area. I plan on buying a bunch of the Rey Mysterios and Big Shows (oddly, no Cenas are really hanging around here right now) and donating them all.

Definitely. If I have any extra big book HHHSs I'll donate them too.

Last year I donated a DM Cena and 20-0 Taker. My wife and I always grab a boy and girl angel from the Salvation Army trees, donate a toy to the tots, and donate money to the humane society for animals. Done this for years, but since I've been a collector, I like to donate figs.
It's cool and all and I hope everyone does it. Christmas is my favorite time of year and kids and animals break my heart. But we shouldn't do it just for some self gratification in front of your peers on a message board. But if it increases the chances of more people donating, then salute'.

Great idea. Would def do this if I lived in the US. Sweden doesn't have anything like this, sadly.

Exactly, dont do it for self gratification. But we've got an awesome opportunity here, we're all together on these message boards brought together by our interest in wrestling and wrestling figures. It would be cool if we could take our hobby and make a difference with it.

I've bought Hot Wheels the last couple of years to donate. It's fun to look through the giant bin and find the coolest ones to donate.
WWE toys are just too expensive. For even me to collect. I'd love to have a CM Punk or Antonio Cessaro figure sitting around my room, but Mattel figures are so expensive that they've driven me away from collecting. I have a CM Punk Rumbler that I got on clearance on my computer.. So this may seem selfish, but if WWE figures are too expensive to buy for MYSELF, they're too expensive to be bought as a charitable gift as well.. I have 4 nieces and a fairly large extended family. Christmas is a huge financial burden as is. And Hot Wheels are a pretty universal boys toy. What happens if a bunch of Elites donated go to a boy who doesn't like wrestling at all? We're obsessive wrestling fans, but not everyone is..

We're obsessive wrestling fans, but not everyone is.. I'm not singling you out here, but replying to this because "they're so expensive" was my first thought, also. Then it dawned on me that kids don't collect like us. They aren't (well, I'd say at least most of them aren't) concerned about accurate detail and having something hard to find. They just want something that's a fun WWE-related play experience. There are plenty of cheaper options, like Rumblers, Power Slammers, and Flex Force figures, and the kicker is that those are the ones that kids enjoy playing with. My Big Lots is crawling with Rumblers and Flex Force, and yours probably is too. I'd wager that you could buy a kid a couple of Flex Force figures for less than the price of one Elite, and they wouldn't enjoy it any less.

The people that receive the toys wait in a line and get to pick from tons of stuff off of tables. And as the tables empty, there are volunteers that fill the table back up again. I've been there and seen it in action.

I wish there was a way to keep track of what all is donated from all the board members here without it seeming like everyone was bragging. I'd love to make this a yearly thing and try to out do each previous year.
