I have a question for all the collectors that were members on here when Mattel first took ever. I've only been a member on here for a year and a collector for roughly 2. Were Defining Moments, Entrance Greats and Legends all at retail at the same time and were they all released in 2010? Or some in 2011? Also, for the "elitist" Elite only collectors.....did you know Entrance Greats were basics? Were they advertised as such? And if so, did you still buy them?

I didn't like the Entrance Greats and the only Defining Moments I was able to find in retail was Savage, Triple H and Cena

Entrance Greats were 2010, from day one. Legends came out mid-2010. Defining Moments replaced Entrance Greats for 2011. We knew that Entrance Greats had the same articulation as the basic figures. The idea for Defining Moments was that maybe they'd sell better if they had elite-style articulation instead of the music stand. They didn't.

I've been collecting from day one, I remember the only Entrance Greats you could tell was basic was Rey since his abdomen was exposed. I could say felt a bit disappointed of no elite articulation.

What were the retail prices for EG's and DM's? My Walmart sold the Defining Moments for 22.99 and Entrance Greats were like 16.99 I think

The problem with Defining Moments is they picked very odd "moments" for certain wrestlers. I think the John Cena, HBK, Macho Man, and Bret Hart ones were the most accurate in regards to representing a true defining moment in their career. The HBK one, while it suffered from a terrible jacket, is one of my favorite figures to this day.
The other ones like Stone Cold, the Rock, and Undertaker had rather headscratching moments. I picked up Undertaker because I collect him, but that moment really didn't define him in any way. As for Austin and Rock, very small moments for each character besides the Rock one which was the highest rated segment in Raw history.
The HHH one had a great moment, and a defining one. But good lord how awful was that headscan? Looked an old Jakks Finishing Moves figure.

I wouldn't know, as we never even got Mattel Legends, Entrance Greats or Defining Moments at retail over here in the UK. We've always only had the Basic, Battlepack and Elite lines.

I think the DM Rock is far from a headscratching choice. You said it yourself, it's still the highest rated segment in Raw history.

I only collect elites & I wasn't around then, but I didn't know EG's were basic until Tuesday when I purchased Rey's fig. Didn't matter though, because it's an awesome figure.

Ya EG and DM and Legends were all out at the same time, around 2010 and 2011 or so. I grabbed the Piper and Dibiase ones and Taker online for 36 bucks and those were actually the first 3 Mattel's I ever bought. I saw alot of Piper and Dibiase at Family Dollar later for 10 bucks a piece. I didnt pick up any other EG as I was buying Legends and DM figures which I preferred more. All 3 of these lines had dirt cheap figures at one time. I wish I would of grabbed Jericho EG though.

That's the good thing about starting late. I was able to get most of them for pennies.

Mattel either produced too many of these or the demand just wasn't there, including Legends.
I'm glad the Flashback method works.

I miss the Legend series To this day I regret not picking up Road Warriors and the rest that I seen at K-Mart for $8.99 !!! I had been out of collecting for a while, but when I seen them my mind was telling me... "Hey, you need to snatch these up" , but I decided that I didnt need them and left them for someone else. Isnt it ironic, that now I've gotten back into collecting and think about what I could've had at a steal of a price... Oh well, it happens

It's funny, because I've been collecting since day one with Mattel, and I own all Entrance Greats except for Mysterio, and didn't distinguish that they were Basics until I joined this forum! The only 3 I opened were Michaels, Dibiase and Undertaker, only for display, so I guess you could see how I could make the mistake. In all honesty, I think the Legends, Entrance Greats, and Defining Moments lines would have done tons better if they hadn't have released them so early in the Mattel line. A lot of those figures had been released just a few years earlier, and I know I, myself, couldn't justify buying another Ultimate Warrior, Iron Sheik, Dusty Rhodes, Eddie Guerrero, Rick Rude, Kurt Hennig etc. Plus with the glaring omission of WWE's 2 biggest Legend's, Hogan & Flair, how could any line dedicated to Legends be expected to do well? I feel the same way about the Elite Scale Ring. Jakks waited a while into their RA line before they gave us a ring that was to scale. Mattel had barely started their line when they gave us the ESR. I think it was all just too much, too soon.
