Dude, there's nothing worse than losing a pet. Especially the one that you grew up with.
I remember that for about an hour before the vet came to put my dog down, he and I were lying on my bed and he was licking the tears off of my cheeks.

So, to follow up on my last post.
My Mother had our cat Ash put down two days ago, but didn't have the guts to tell me because she knew how i'd react. Turns out she was 16, not 13 like I had thought, but she didn't look a day over 5. I am now in the same boat as you, OP. I had prepared for it though, I saw it coming. Just hard to believe they're gone. My cousin also had their 16 year old cat put down 4 days ago, so we're all in the same timeframe.

Oh my god I literally cried. My dog died last year and he was so special to me. After I read this I hugged my cat and he looked at me like I was crazy. I've had him for two years and love him to death and can't even imagine losing him. I'm sorry for your loss man. Just know she's always with you.

Damn dude RIP. A lot of people don't really understand that losing a pet is like losing a family member. My dog passed away when I was 16 and people would say "it's just a dog, why don't you buy a new one"
It's just the cycle of life bro. Hope you can get through this.

Animals are really tough to lose, I've had my dog for almost a decade now and she is getting pretty old its going to be tough for me when she goes. RIP to your cat bro and I hope you feel better, just know that she is in a better place now and you meant as much to her as she meant to you and she misses you right now. Be grateful for those times you had with her and cherish it.
Feel better my man.

I lost my best friend, my first dog, in 2008.
His paw print was my first tattoo.
Much love, buddy. Keep your sh*t together.

I'm sorry, man. My cat, Greene, is 6 years old and has cancer. She's probably doesn't have that much longer. 6 months ago when we found out she had cancer they told us she had 3-6 months. A month ago she threw up blood and passed out. The vet said her medicine has been causing her to have stomach issues and she had like an ulcer or something burst, which was what caused her to pass out because she lost so much blood so fast. She's not in any pain that we can tell and still eats and does most of her normal cat things...but I know this is something I'm going to have to deal with in the next few weeks. It just sucks. She's only 6. cancer, seriously.

I'm still not out of the habits, I came home tonight and as I opened the door I looked down expecting to see my cat meowing...and then I remembered that she won't be there anymore. It sucks so much.

I had my cat for 20 years. Yep. He died in my arms from a heart attack. I miss him and love him more today than I did yesterday, and it's been 16 years since he died.

I had a similar situation happen to me.
My cat's name was Mittens and it was originally the Family's Cat (My Mom/Half-Sister/Dad's). A few years after they got it, I was born. My Sister took a video when I was coming home for the first time with my Parents, and she was talking to the Cat before I got there; saying that there's gonna be someone new in the household. In we came, and then either my Mom or Sister held me up, and the other held the Cat up to me. Mittens was one of the first things I ever seen.
Over the years, I had other pets. Hamsters, Fish, and even a Dog, but they weren't around too long due to what they were, or I had to end up giving them to someone else. But I always had my cat Mittens. She was my favorite pet ever, and I interacted with her everyday. (We also had a bird named Chip, but we got it after I was born, it was more-so my Sister's, and she took it when she moved out. I looked after it for it's final years though).
One day, my Dad called me and said the cat was laying in the hallway, near her dish and looked sick or something. I got home and she was in the living room laying down in an unusual matter. She looked very ill, and I called my Mom to come over and help me figure out what to do. She (my Mom) came over, and we fed her (the cat), washed her up in the bathtub, and then my Mom went back to her place to get the cat's travel box. I brought the cat outside with me on the doorstep, and laid her on my lap as I sat down. My cat was looking all around as she was rarely outside because she was an indoor pet. I rubbed her, and scratched under her neck to hopefully comfort her for a little bit, and to hear her purr. My mom came back, and told me to help her put the cat in the travel box and I did. I looked at Mittens one last time, and then my Mom left with her.
A day or two later she was at the Vet where she was getting help to possibly survive, but she started to suffer. My Mom had to tell them to put her down so she wouldn't have to be in that horrible condition anymore.
It was a sad time. I lost something so dear to me, that I went through so much to take care of and love everyday. Several years later, I still miss her, and I honestly don't want to own anymore pets, because it hurt SO MUCH to lose my favorite cat. I feel that no other pet could make me as happy as Mittens did.
Hope you feel a bit better soon man. I really feel for you.

As mentioned above, there is nothing like losing a pet, especially one you grew up with. It's a loss you will feel forever. I know that feeling all too well. Back on Sept 4th, we had to put our cat Weezley down and he wasn't even a year and a half old. He was born with a bad heart and it caught up to him and we were all devastated and still are, just because he SO young. He died way too soon and I think about him pretty much every day. Consider yourself lucky that you got that long out of your friend and family member. We weren't nearly that fortunate with our cat. We wish we could've been, but life is very unpredictable. You just never know.... Here's a pic of me with my dog Cheri and Weezley taken back in May: I don't know what else to say, but I am truly sorry for your loss.

Hope you feel a bit better soon man. I really feel for you. I also had a cat named Mittens, got her in 2007 and never really even had a thought about her dying, she always seemed so well and knew where not to go/what not to do. We had never put an animal down, and we were hoping we wouldn't have to. But earlier this year, Mittens stomach started to swell up. She was still alright, so we thought nothing of it. Until one day we found her just lying on the floor, which was weird since she was normally in a bed or on the couch. I tried to get her to stand up to see if she could, but no matter where we put her she'd just lye back down again. My Mum took her to the vet and they told her that she was going to die in a matter of time, and if we didn't get her put down then she would just live the remainder of her life in pain and lying down in one spot, so we made the decision to put her down. I can still remember the last time I ever saw her, we were at the vet and he brang her out onto a table for us to say goodbye. Despite her barely being able to move, she walked over to me and smooched my hand, showing her affection like she usually would. She knew we loved her, and even though she could barely stand, she made the effort in to tell us she loved us too. However, on her way over to me, she started to stumble, barely holding her balance, it was like her body was giving out on her. I knew putting her to sleep was the right decision, and Mittens was the first animal we had to put down. Unfortunately we had to get another one of our cats put to sleep just last weekend, as you can see in the post above I gotta ask you guys, if you had to put an animal to sleep, would you want to be there when it happened? I don't think i'd be able to take it. I couldn't stand to see the life get literally taken out of one of my best friends. It'd haunt me for the rest of my life

I've been there for every pet I've had to put down. It HURTS BAD, but its the least you can do for them. let them see you and hear you telling them you love them and it'll be ok as they close their eyes. SOOOOOOOOO Hard to do, but I would never let my babies go alone. Gosh I miss my Mooskie & Miss Kitty!
