hi, i wasnt paying close attention to tna at the time, but the thought of bobby roode being the longest reigning champ sounds interesting, could anyone recommend any notable matches/ promos he had during this period?

Not really. His matches against James Storm are of note, but he basically cheated and won PPV matches by DQ, count out and flukes.

Hist two matches with AJ right after he won the title, Lockdown against James Storm, and definitely his Destination X match against A Double. I also enjoyed his match with Jeff Hardy at Genesis and then the 4-way the following month. He is great against Sting and RVD, but those weren't particularly great opponents for him imo. I really enjoyed the RVD ladder match but RVD is kind of all over and they are like a half step off from each other the whole match. I think RVD botched the finish too if I remember.
In terms of promo work, damn near everything he was doing at that point was solid gold imo. Guy was one of the best world champions I've seen in the last 10+ years.
Also, if you haven't seen the 10/26/11 episode of Impact, I recommend you watch it. That's where he won the title and turned heel. I bought it off iTunes. He has some other good Impact Title matches though too. I think a pair against Jeff Hardy in Jan/Feb 2012, and then one against Bully Ray in early March. His title match against Mr. Anderson before losing the title was solid. I can't say enough great things about Bobby Roode. I know many of us had been calling for him to breakout as a singles guy for a couple years and when it finally happened it paid off big. So that was rewarding as a fan.

None of his promo's stood out more than the other from when he was a champion they were all great though, but if you want to see a great promo cut by Booby Roode then watch this video
For matches i'd recommend basically everything that Punksnotdead said. TNA wasn't that great back then the only really good thing was Bobby Roode and AA, they were in a rough point back then.

And did anyone else think Bobby Roode sounded a lot like Shane Douglas from his ECW days when he would cut shoot promos??

His matches with AJ/Storm/Hardy were all great. The two he had with Aries when he lost the title were also gold.

For me personally this Legendary title reign with Bobby Roode is what has really peaked my interest. My opinion is that while Bobby may have cheated to win in most of these matches this era of time signified the birth of the It Factor of professional wrestling.

Roode has always been one of my favorites since his Team Canada days. He is such a great talent. His two matches with Aries were incredible. TNA did such a great job with Roode's title reign.

Remember When TNA was gonna give him the title at BFG when he faced Kurt Angle only for him to lose and then his partner james storm ended up winning it the next night that was worst thing I've seen since the clarie lynch crap all that build up just for him to lose at BFG it's like the royal rumble winner losing the title match at WM.

I too was initially upset that Angle beat him, but I was happy how everything turned out in the end. We got a great heel turn out of it and a great reign. If he hadn't lost to Angle, we might not have gotten the Selfish Generation. My only real issue was the ending to the Angle/Roode match. It just didn't seem like a Bound for Glory main event finish.
