So I was thinking, if ROH got a TV deal back in 2004, instead of just releasing their shows on DVD, how do you think it would have impacted wrestling then??
Would guys like Samoa Joe, CM Punk, AJ Styles, Austin Aries, Homicide, and Bryan Danielson (plus others) have left ROH when they did?? Or do you think they would have stayed there longer??
Because in watching some of those ROH DVDs from 2004 - 2007, the talent they had there was top notch, and the matches they were having would have glued anyone to their TV if they were flipping channels and came across ROH.

Probably would not have effected them. The bigger money and dreams would be elsewhere and not in ROH. Some of their matches at the moment have me glued to the screen, in other words, the talent they have now is without doubt the future

I don't think it would have the appeal that it does now.
Back in 2004, you still had the indy seedyness to it. With the talent flow NOW, it seems to be more of a big-time-feel type federation.

I might be wrong here, but I'm pretty sure they did have a TV deal in 2004. I remember hearing about them taping some stuff, don't remember if they ever aired or not.

I think that was for a local channel in Philadelphia (correct me if I'm wrong). As for the topic, it would have been great for Ring of Honor if they got a TV deal that mostly everyone could watch the show. Could have helped ROH a lot back then.

Look what TV has done to ROH so far, it's ruined it. They've been milled for everyone of their stars since the TV thing happened. The format of the shows is nothing like it used to be, live shows don't even feel like ROH shows anymore. It's the same building, the same crowd, the same ring and a COMPLETELY different attitude in the air.
My first ROH show was Joe v Punk II back in 04, I've watched my at one time favorite company become a shell of it's former self. There's still some hungry young talent in ROH like TD thomas, ACH and true main eventers like Homicide, Kingston and Strong, but all in all though ROH Is pretty dry at this point.
