I must admit, I'm shocked there hasn't been a thread about this yet.
I went to see it tonight. I will keep my thoughts spoiler free:
I kept fairly low expectations, because in my eyes there's no way it could top the first. But I was very impressed & enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. It's definitely not better than the first, but I caught myself laughing pretty hard on multiple occasions. I was happy to see Brick had a lot more lines & felt like he wasn't such a second string player like he was in the first. There's a good chunk of camoes too.
Overall, I'd recommend it if you enjoyed the first one. Its a lot of the same substance.

Watched the fist one a few nights ago to prepare for the second. I was laughing pretty hard at some points, but I felt the story line lacked. Does the second one have more of a point?

I really enjoyed it. It was the first movie I've paid to see in theaters since Spider-Man a couple summers ago. I will keep my critiques to myself because when I read them from others that is often what I look for in films..and its better if you enjoy it and drink it in...smell it..its like a rich mahogany.

Does it contradict the end of the first (where ron & his girl are old together, at the world news channel)?

Does it have more of a point? I would say yes, at times. There is a purpose for Ron in the story& you follow him on his journey. But I will also add there are scenes that, while are funny, have no point to the story.

Without going into detail, I would only say that I can't remember the name of the network they are at when the movie starts. But they are working together at the very beginning.

I saw Christina Applegate last night on Conan so it got me ramped up for it. I'm hoping to get to it Sunday or Monday. I have mild expectations. I didn't even like the original when I saw it the first time at the theater. It took me about the 2nd viewing on DVD to really appreciate it. One liner films are just like that for me, and I just have to digest everything. I think it'll be easier though going into 2 at least being prepared for the type humor we'll get.
I think James Marsden looks pretty funny in the previews, so I'm looking forward to seeing his character. I am fully expecting plenty of great cameos as well.

I was just thinking that at the end of the first, they were together at a new station - but as much older than the second one would make them….I thought it showed them as much, much older in their 'happily ever after'

Saw it last night. The first hour was hilarious, especially the first 15 minutes. The last hour or so was awful. They story totally derailed. Not that it reall matters in a movie such as this. But I would still recommend it. A lot of new, classic one liners.
Also, I'm so pumped about 22 Jump Street

Seriously one of the funniest movies in years. I was crying from laughter at some points.

I loved it for what it was. I'm a huge fan of Ferrell and Carell and Carell's role in this movie had been expanded. The weather scene with the green screen is easily one of the funniest moments in the movie.

I loved it. The first will always be one of my favorite over-the-top comedies. This didn't disappoint. The final act got a little TOO ridiculous for my liking, but the rest of it more than made up for that. I haven't laughed that hard in the theater in a long time.

I actually thought the second one was more of a coherent movie than the first one. As funny as the original Anchorman is, it's really just a series of extended gags piled together, one after another. In this one, outside of the (hilarious) battle in the park, the actual gags and jokes are pretty composed. I liked it, though I think the first one has more re-watching value.
Also, any movie that features Liam Neeson introducing and standing next to a Minotaur is a winner in my book.

I preferred this to the first. The humour was significantly stranger in the second and I have what I would call a warped sense of humour.
The levels of weird reached in this movie were almost that of Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim and Zach Galifianakis.
