Don't get me wrong here, the NWO at one time was amazing. When I think of them, it's always simply of Hogan-Hall-Nash, because that was simply when they were at their best. During their first WCW run as a trio, and even their WWE run as just the trio again (up until WM) I thought they were amazing.
But when I think about the NWO in any more depth, outside of those 3 guys I think about how ridiculous, convoluted and just simply lame the whole thing got. As soon as one of those three members left the WWE reincarnation, they almost immediately began sucking. And in WCW, they were essentially what killed the company (at least in terms of on screen content).
Can they really be considered great when 75% of the time they were absolutely awful?

I'm not 100% sure but I do think that the nWo got so big for WCW they started to get very carried away with the idea and put any old superstar in it. I always think the nWo as the trio for sure. I think they weren't awful but nWo definitely had low points like any faction/story does.

The period they started doing gangwars, I would consider those the two worst factions ever

Not worst of all time but it went downhill real fast.

Every storyline had to do with the NWO to the point it was boring. Why did everything have to be a world order. If the LWO was called anything else they probably could have gotten over

While at one point it had the potential to be great before becoming watered down and so inexclusive that you were in the minority to not be in the NWO. It's far from the worst faction of all time. You had the dudes with attitudes, the union, the oddities, and right to censor so they're are a few that sucked more

The NWO proved to be at a horrible state in 1999 when you had the NWO Red & Black with Hogan, Hall, Nash, Luger, Bagwell, Steiner, and such, and then you had the NWO Black & White, which had Stevie Ray and Vincent argue over who was the leader, with such guys like Brian Adams and Scott Norton in it. Not a good time at all for the NWO.
The NWO was at its best from June 96 - December 96. When January came around and they were gonna have an only NWO PPV, that's when it started to go down hill, because of all the WCW talent that quickly jumped over to the NWO. Which goes against what the NWO initially was, because Hogan wouldn't even let Beefcake in the group at Hog Wild 96, yet now guys like Big Bubba and Scott Norton are welcome to the group??

What did kill the NWO was they got over as fan favorites and the fact most of them had creative control made the protagonist look even weaker because they never won. NWO wasn't a bad faction egos ruined it

nWo will be remembered as the greatest faction of all time simply because of the sheer star-power the group had.

Did it go down hill fast? Yes. Did it end poorly? Yes. Did they eventually have too many members? Yes. But they are no way in any shape or form the worst faction ever. They are one of the main reasons wrestling got so popular in 90's.

They could never be considered the worst of all time because the stable changed the business at the time. Yes, they got stale and yes it got ruined after awhile but far from the worst of all time. This is all covered in the NWO DVD which is a good watch.

Without Bagwell and Vincent the nWo would have been an afterthought.

There were a million reasons that WCW died, one of which is the nWo. But the only reason it was ever really successful for a while is the nWo... If it hadn't been for those guys, there'd have been no fanbase for Goldberg to launch. The WWF wouldn't have had to fight back with the attitude era. The nWo sparked wrestling's boom period. People still fantasy book their own new nWo factions too. All in all, the only factions that were ever remotely as marketable/important were DX and the Four Horsemen. Obviously, a lot of the nWo stuff sucked, but it was WCW. Almost everything they ever did sucked.

Definitely not the worst, it got watered down real fast because they didn't know what to do other than to add more guys & it just got out of hand. If they would've done the NWO Hollywood vs NWO Wolfpac right, they could've got even more out of it, but Hulk didn't want to cause he knew the Wolfpac would embarrass him on the mic (which I believe is one of the main reasons he pulled for Hall in NWO Hollywood) & Nash didn't want to because he knew Hogan wouldn't put over NWO Wolfpac. Too many egos. I don't think they should've split the original 3 up when they came to WWE, Hall & Nash should've turned with Hogan IMO. The whole storyline was that Vince brought them in as the "poison" to kill the WWE, all they had to do was all 3 of them turn on Vince. WWE basically dropped the ball with them if you ask me. I still enjoyed their WWE run it was unfortunate Nash kept getting hurt. Speaking of the WWE version I don't think HBK belonged with them at all, it's still kinda weird to me when I see old pics of him in the NWO shirt.

Should have just kept it as Hogan/Hall/Nash and maybe 1 or 2 other members.

The trio was better. I wouldn't say worst because they changed history and helped the rating war. There has been worse factions. Ex. Spirit squad. I think since all the titles they had made them a success

It's Vincent, not Virgil. The nWo had some lame members, yes. But they also had the likes of Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Ted DiBiase, Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude, Macho Man, V.K. Wallstreet (IRS) etc, all of whom were extremely popular in the WWF. They also had several other talents e.g. The Giant, Syxx, Buff Bagwell, Sting and of course, Dennis Rodman.

You can't call it the worst when factions like 3MB, the Mean Street Posse, the MIA and the Oddities existed.
