So we all remember this crap.
And the day he actually gave out the "Million" he ended up "dying" again due to the stage collapse. My question is, was it ever reported whether or not the guy actually got the million? Or was it a scam at that point. Did all the other winners before him recieve their hundreds of thousands?

This is actually a pretty damn good question which could use some follow up.
WWF also had a "million dollar giveaway" in 1997 which, I think, culminated at Summerslam as those advertisements are in the WWF magazines from 1997 which I still own.

Yeah, I always wondered about that too.
I registered anyway and I remember the phone ringing during RAW. I was pissed when I found out it wasn't Vince on the other line. Also, none of the callers seemed all that excited..

Also, none of the callers seemed all that excited.. My brother entered, and the phone rang as Vince called once. We damn near crapped ourselves.

I remember reading that it was 100% legitimate and randoms really did get money. However, they were notified earlier in the day/programme which was why they weren't THAT surprised.

This was actually at one of those "In your house" PPVs. There were two people who were "chosen" and they had to pick a key out of 100 of them that made the WWF logo. Sunny was there and when the person chose their key, she would see if they worked. Of course nobody won. I didn't see it on youtube but I'm sure someone will find it.

No actually it was Summerslam, and they billed the contest as a "Million Dollar Chance" some guy that dressed like Steve Austin and a family lost. The money they showed in the I think casket wasn't even real and only had stuff printed on one side. I think the contest you are thinking of is when they gave away a house.
