So I'm looking to order the BAF Heyman already built from cenation for £20 with £5 shipping. But, I don't want to be hit with any custom charges what so ever so should I just buy each part separate from him (head, suit, legs). Has anyone bought from him before? What was the shipping time like? Custom charges?
Yeah my bad, just thought I would get a quicker answer here than anywhere else.

You could always ask him to mark as gift to save any problems but if he won't your best bet to avoid customs would be to order 2 parts that equal less than £15 then wait to they have shipped then get the other 2.

Thank you very much. That's exactly what i have done, the head and jacket with the torso arrived yesterday with no charge, now will order the arms and legs in a few days. I was hit with a charge last time so I'm not making the same mistake again.

The customs tax itself was only £5.59, but the cheeky ers at Royal Mail gave me an £8 handling charge...why?! Because they could. They got the item into the country so that somehow gives them the right to charge more for that than the actual customs tax, boils my piss. Things like that make me hate the Royal Mail with a passion.

The reason is, when your item is hit with the customs charge, Royal Mail pays it for you and then keeps it for you at your local office. They don't have to do that. They could easily just leave it with customs and then you'd have to go and get it off them. It would cost a lot more than £8 to get to a customs office than it would your local sorting office. Oh, and by the way, marking as gift doesn't work anymore..customs are well onto that.

I found this on their website but need help clarifying.
Tax on goods bought from a non EU Country
If you order or send purchased goods other than alcohol, tobacco, perfume and toilet water from a country outside the EU then you:
- don't have to pay Excise Duty - may have to pay Customs Duty on goods with a value that exceeds £135 - will have to pay import VAT on goods with a value that exceeds £15
Note that on all goods from outside the EU, Customs Duty is waived if the amount of duty calculated is £9 or under.
So is £9 the limit or is it £15 for customs?

Maybe not though.

I bought a few figures from him recently and asked him if he could mark the value as $20 and he marked it lower than that.

I've found this whole Customs thing to be a total lottery... sometimes I have spent over $100 on a large figure or something and not been charged a thing (not that I'm complaining, of course!).
I would say on average, I get charged about a third of the time (and even then, it still usually works out cheaper or about the same as getting the stuff from the UK). Also, it always seems to help if you can get the seller to mark the Customs form as a "Gift" and the value under $50.
