When people talk about the Hell In A Cell, usually Mick Foley's infamous fall off the cage and then through the cage gets talked about. And rightfully so.
But what about Rikishi's fall off the Cell??
To me, I personally think Rikishi's was far more dangerous than Foley's. Foley at least was 'tossed' and by tossed, I mean more of Foley running and throwing himself off while Taker kind of just had his hands there guiding it. Foley also fell forward and turned in, even though it seemed reckless he could still have better control of things.
Now with Rikishi, the guy was taking a back bump off the Cell onto the flat end of the back of a pickup truck. So he doesn't even know if he is gonna land right, since he is pretty much doing it blindly. And he could have hit the edge of the truck, or fell short of it, he took a huge chance with it.
So I am a bit curious as to why Rikishi's fall gets over looked - dare I say forgotten - compared to Foley's fall, or even HBK's fall off the side of the Cell.

People will see the massive crash mat that he landed on. Foley fell further, faster, and landed harder through a table and TV monitors.

Yeah Rikishi's fall was much safer and not nearly as impressive as Foley's in my opinion.

Rikishi's fall was too "fake" and set up. Even if Foley had his falls planned there was just something special about them. Seeing someone throw off and then threw a cage that high up was something never done before. It was true shock value. The second that stupid truck came out you knew someone was going off the cage.

Rikishi's fall was the exact opposite of Foley's: very staged

Yeah even as a 9 year old watching live at the time you knew that apt was coming when Vince brought the truck out. Plus Foley's fall, despite being super dangerous, was the first of it's kind. By the time Rikishi fell you have had hell in a cell spots, tlc spots, and other crazy moments that defined the attitude era. Fans were desensitized and therefore it is not up there with those earlier foley spots.

I was like 9 and knew that it probably didn't hurt him much.

Rikishi was push down onto a pile of hay which was on the flat surface of a tailgate, as opposed to Foley who ran off (had a lot more momentum) onto tables and monitors. What Foley did involved a lot more risk which turned out very bad for him while what Rikishi did was almost the exact opposite.

all the replies have covered this well. I feel exactly the same. To me it wasn't nearly as Impressive as Foleys bumps or HBKs.

Plus Rikishi had plenty of padding due to his fat ass.

I agreed with you at first but after rewatching it, the bed of the truck is a lot larger than I originally imagined and the amount of hay/padding definitely cushioned his fall. Granted it was probably a little more nerve racking since he is falling backward not seeing where he is going, but there was nothing to ease Foley's fall.

Rikishi's fall was way scarier, but not as impressive a visual -- and most importantly, the element of surprise. When Foley did it, nobody thought a guy would get thrown off the cage. When Rikishi did it, everybody knew someone was getting thrown off the cage.

Not only was Mick's more dangerous and obviously more painful, but the drama of him getting back up, and then falling THROUGH the cage is what makes that one FAR FAR better in each catagory.
In my opinion, of course.

Honestly while both falls were impressive in their brutality. Foleys gets the nod mainly because Jim Ross call that goes with it gives me chills everytime I here it .

...I feel like, if I'm getting throw off of something high, and I am conscious, I am going to flail around like an inflated tube man at a car dealership...he just goes stiff. That REALLY kills the whole thing for me.

It's not worse than jumping off the roof onto a trampoline. Pretty lame. Foley's was better.

That probably wasn't even Rikishi's biggest fall. I always thought his splash off the cage on Val Venis was much more dangerous.

I always thought his fall was weak. Kinda lame to be honest. I mean come on... a hay truck? Really?
