UPDATE:"Sting was written out of TNA storylines at Thursday night's TNA Genesis Week 2 tapings, airing next Thursday, January 24th on Spike TV. Sting faced Magnus in a high-stakes match for the TNA World Championship. With a lot of interference, Magnus got the win and retained his title. After the match, Magnus tore up Sting's TNA contract, effectively writing him off television. As reported earlier this week, Sting has actually been working for TNA without a contract - and has been in talks with WWE regarding a match at WrestleMania XXX." Source: rajah.com/node/38626----------------------------------------------------------------- I like where this is going. All the stars seem to be aligning in a way they never have before as relates to this subject. Boo-ya! It's now or never, god I hope this happens! How can people seriously believe a Sting vs Undertaker match is going to be any good? They already wrestled in NWA when Undertaker was Mean Mark and that match sucked, so almost 24 years later when one guy wrestles in a T-shirt and forgets spots and the other only wrestles once a year barely able to take bumps, they are going to produce a Wrestlemania classic? LOL.

Granted, kids and new fans won't, but WWE should and probably will promote the heck out of this if he signs. Those people will have an idea of who Sting is by the time he comes in.

The hell he doesn't, Jim Johnson could nail the f*ck out of an updated remake of this: Just cut from 1:26 to the end out of it.

Hell, just let him sign a Merchadise deal and HOF. Get us some great Sting DVD's and figures I'll be happy. I don't need to see him wrestle in a WWE ring to make his Legacy any better.

I would have him come out in his "crow" theme.....most identifiable theme for him to most fans. For his debut maybe have Taker give a retirement speech and have Sting come down from the rafters and attack him setting up their WM 30 match.

Honestly, it would be cool to see Sting in WWE, but I watched his match against Eric Carter III yesterday and it was brutal. Not only was the Stinger moving slowly around the ring, he botched a dropkick by not getting enough height on it. Not to mention, he has to wear a t-shirt all the time now to hide his gut.
I think the height of his appeal in WWE has passed, but I think the majority of people would still want to see him versus Undertaker at Mania. I'm just worried that his in-ring performance would hinder the quality of that match if it were to ever happen. I would expect that match to have a very slow and methodical pace while telling a story as opposed to a long drawn out battle with spots. Think Hogan vs Rock at WMX8.

Generally speaking, this is the annual thread that I ignore and don't post in. This year, however, even I admit there looks to be at least a possibility of it happening. Every other year it seemed to be baseless speculation. But with TNA being in the shape it is, business wise I mean, and the fact that he's not under contract I think we have some potential to discuss this realistically with. I still wont get any hopes up. I halfway figure the whole storyline with Magnus and the public acknowledgement of Stings contract on tv could be a swerve. With Sting eventually returning to stop Dixie and company with the "new investor" angle. But you gotta think he would want his legacy to end and be cemented with the company that actually owns his legacy. Id love to see him compete in a wwe ring, get a HoF nod next year and get us some sweet merch along the way. Its probably still "not likely" but at least its "possible" this year.

I was never convinced with Sting as a main event guy. Even today in TNA as a veteran i still cant buy into him. You would think id be a fan, ive plenty of his matches on my WCW/NWA dvds but i can honestly say he never really entertained me. Has he really ever stood on his own two feet and held a position where he's the main guy who a company can build their product around? I seen some good matches with him and Ric Flair going back to the NWA days. But again he was surrounded by some very good names and top guys back then i never really seen him as the top guy.
I admit to not watching much of WCW but i did tune in around the mid to late 90s when he had the crow look going on which looked cool and the fans really got into that whole thing (including me) so i have to give him some credit but i dont know, i was never like blown away by him. His promos never sucked me in, i found him quite bland on the mic in all honesty and that goes back to me saying why he never convinced me.
Like i touched on, even then at the height of his success he was never the main guy. Hogan, Nash, Hall and Luger were still drawing huge money for WCW as the top guys and i will include Sting in that same regard but what im getting at is he still wasnt the main man that drew all the money. As for TNA, well I admit to not watching much of it, i follow it here and there but anytime ive seen him on my screen im not really fussed. Thats not to say he hasnt had some good matches im sure some TNA fans could tell me more and he appears popular with other wrestlers, when i watch all my shoot interviews i dont think theres anyone that has a bad word about the guy but im going to stick to my argument that i can honestly say ive never been convinced with Sting. Hes just another guy with a cool gimmick and can work a solid match from what ive seen of him. I have zero interest in seeing him work a match with Undertaker and i cant see that happening anyway or having a WWE run before he retires and ill never regard him in the legendary status like some wrestling fans do.

They already wrestled in NWA when Undertaker was Mean Mark and that match sucked, so almost 24 years later when one guy wrestles in a T-shirt and forgets spots and the other only wrestles once a year barely able to take bumps, they are going to produce a Wrestlemania classic? Hogan vs Andre was hardly a classic, and was a slow, plodding affair with lots of standing or laying around. yet it's considered one of the biggest matches ever in pro wrestling because it defined an event, and an era,the anticipation and hype was insane, and it was one of those "special moments" people thought they would never see. same would transpire here. while not a classic clash, the anticipation and hype would be through the roof, and it would truly be a "special moment" that people thought they would never see. Hogan vs Rock is the same. not the greatest match ever, but it FEELS like one of the greatest matches ever because of how special and anticipated it was. not to mention, again, something people thought they would never see. WWE simply cant build up matches like Hogan & Andre any more. Especially when they try to rush it into 6 episodes of Raw. I mean the script will basically go like this.. -DONG -Garr Rest in Peace -Thunder & Lightening -Its Show time folk...OOOOWWWWW!!! -DONG -Lightening -Sitting in rafters -DONG -More sitting in rafters -DONG Then we'll finally get to the match where two men who are just a few years away from medicare will get in the ring. One will roll his eyes back into his head, the other will yell out "Oooowww" and pound his chest. Taker will eventually get locked into a Scorpion death lock before getting to the ropes. Then Sting will get locked into Hells Gate before getting to the ropes. Cause God knows a Taker Wrestlemania match has to have 47 finishers in it. Sting will fight back, whip Taker into corner, go for Stinger splash but Taker catches flips him upside down, tombstone 1-2-3 nice hand shake then more DONGS, Eyes rolling back, thunder and lightening and a couple more "Ooooww's" and then everyone will bitch online.

If anything, I'd think Sting would debut on the Raw after mania. Give him a year to get into shape and get comfortable.
