...If basics had elite style legs then I'd probably collect them instead. Basic figures with elite legs would be great. What I don't like about elite figures is the torso articulation, looks awful in most of the figures, bad designed. That's why I collect mostly basics. I only have 2 elites: Elite 12 Kane and Legends Stone Cold.

Articulation first and foremost. I pose them for my displays and that added articulation is the only way im able to do so. I cant stand the limited articulation on the basics. I used to play with them back in the RA days and they had the same type of articulation as basics and i always wished it was better, so my dislike for basics stems from that.
Better paint apps for attire and color tattoos are a big part of it too. And entrance gear or character specific accessories. Chairs and tables and other generic weapons i dont care about cuz i have plenty from Jakks. Shiny belts are great too, but i think if they didnt come with those they could do packs and sell them separately.
All in all elites are far superior to basics in every way.
someone mentioned that basics are getting better heads recently than the elites, well this of course is a selling tactic to get you to buy both the basic and the elite, if you want the elite to have the better head. (ie Seth Rollins) So i dont think that qualifies when looking at basics and elites as a whole.

@op - As far as I'm concerned, you're alone on this one, brotha. Basics suck ass, although I own a select few.

Was not aware that the Elites were less durable until now.

I mainly collect the elites because better detail on the attires..and plus you get the cool accesories esp the belts and cloth goods when they do them. Basics are cool too though they usually wind up with better heads some how. I collect both.

Mostly Elites, they have better attention to detail (paint apps and scaling of parts and height), range of articulation and of course the accessories. I usually only get basics for the divas or for swapping parts.

I just started collecting Elites, Basically? I needed a new hobby. I like WWE and thus WWE fig collecting was born!
I havent been able to force myself to take any of my figs out of the box so far though! -.-

I just think Elites are better all 'round... the t-shirts/entrance gear, accessories, shiny title belts, more articulation, better packaging - and the awesome Flashback figures of course. The only downside is not getting tag-teams like The Uso's and Prime Time Players - but I believe Mattel are working on this...

I buy Elites mostly for the accessories. But my current Roster shelf is all Basics. They just get released in a much faster pace. So if there is an Elite that will improve my Basic, I buy it. If not I usually pass.

Ab crunch looks so bad all elites should come with a shirt as a rule of thumb

Better articulation and more accessories. which me, as a player, find to be killing two birds with one stone.
