Didn't know if this belonged here or WWE board. But I'm planning on doing Mania 30. Or well just fetching ideas out it. Questions for anyone who may know. Is the stadium far from the airport? Hotels around the area? Public transportation to the stadium easy? any other info would be helpful thanks

The stadium is about a 20 minute drive from the airport. There are many hotels in the area (and many hotels throughout the entire greater New Orleans are. I'm not sure where the nearest bus stop is, honestly, but it shouldn't be far from there. If nothing else, you can always call a cab.

Public transportation is pretty good in NOLA. I'd probably stay in the central business district. It can get dicey at night if you're not in the heavily populated areas. I'd stay close to Canal st. and pretty much off Bourbon. Royal st. to Decatur st. is pretty good and safe. Stay away from Rampart.
You can hop on the street cars to get around. I'm not sure how close you can get to the Superdome but the area around it is pretty sketchy. You could also get a taxi to take you straight there. Might cost you a pretty penny though.
Exersize caution like you normally should and you should have a great time. I freaking LOVE New Orleans. One of my favorite cities.

I'm not really sure what other info you're looking for, but I grew up in New Orleans and live an hour away. So, I can answer most questions you'll probably have.

Yeah like I said I'm not sure it goes all the way there but you could stop and walk the rest of the way.

Ok you guys are great. To make this a bit clearer, here's what I'm thinking. I want a hotel that's not going to break the bank but also keep me in an area that I can do stuff in. Mainly I'm doing this to mix it up so when I'm not doing something wrestling related I can go around and do stuff. I don't want to be too far from the arena, but is there anything to do nearby? I don't mind walking or taking public transportation cause I'd only need to do it for mania.

Everyone always thinks Bourbon for New Orleans, but the true New Orleans experience is on Magazine and Decator streets. Bourbon is mainly just bars. If you're planning on experiencing the city, take a day and wander down those.
Also, I guess you kind of have to stop by Café du Monde on Decatur. It's a staple of the city.

Thanks guys. Appreciate it. And I'm old enough to be doing this lol. I just need to see if I can push for OT at work to make this possible.

Oh, one quick piece of advice: Don't call it the Mercedez-Benz anything, just call it the Superdome. Not only will more people recognize it by that name, but we're all still kind of pissed about the change.

Sorry to keep flooding this thread, but I'm in love with the city. Anyway, don't go to big name restaurants that you'd think to go like Emril's. It's ridiculously expensive and most hole-in-the-wall places in the quarter are just as good.
Also, the reason the airport is so far away from the some is because it's actually in Kenner, which is two towns over.

Hornets/Pelicans arena is right next to the Superdome, so you could check out a game if you like basketball.....it is a very nice arena too & they actually serve cajun food & not just burger/fries

Every House of Blues experience I've had, when I was waiting in line for a show...guys would pop out of nowhere looking to clean sneakers for a couple dollars

I'm not trying to worry you, but if you haven't found a hotel yet, I suggest doing it fast. Everything seems to be booked up & the ones that are available are definitely not cheap.
I'm going too, & I'm looking at the NORTA for transportation. It seems reliable & its cheap.

They did that to me when I was maybe 7. I didn't have any money, so I offered a stick of gum. I didn't get to keep the beads.

Oh, you may want to think about looking at hotels in Metairie. It's further away, but it's safer and most likely cheaper.
