Chris Benoit ed up ECW, and could of saved ECW. Wish Angle had stayed on ECW long enough to get Benoit vs. Angle for the ECW Title. -2007 gave McMahon as Champion and random 'Big Guy' matches on ECW for the title.

I've always been pretty certain that Benoit's downgrade to ECW played a part in his rampage. You have to realize, it was basically a signal from WWE, that they had no faith in Benoit. Unlike Angle, who could go back up to the main roster at any time or whatever, for Benoit, it basically meant he had spent years and years to make to the "main event" level, only for WWE to crush him.
This after a terrible run with the belt and generally no confidence in Benoit. Add to the fact that he was booked to job out to guys like John Morrison and the dude just snapped.

I want them to re-re launch ECW again. Get rid of Main Event and Superstars and have ECW on Wednesday. It would be a great way to get guys like Kidd on TV and guys like Kofi could be ECW champion Let ecw go man. I'd rather have nxt To feature young talent.

I still think Ezekiel Jackson shouldn't have won the ECW title.

I really liked it in the beginning and up until the Bobby Lashley crap. I think Vince had the title at one point too.
CM Punk and John Morrison tore the house down on several occasions for the ECW title. It had a lot of potential but died a slow death once it became so watered down.

Chris Benoit being relocated to ECW had nothing to do with his death. I believe Benoit didn't mind switching to ECW and was looking forward to his match with CM Punk. The main catalyst for Benoit's double homicide/suicide was based on his personal life, not his professional life. As for the re-launch of ECW, it was Paul Heyman and Dave Lagana who were part of the creative team. After Heyman's departure, Lagana went solo until he left the WWE in 2008. If you want to see hardcore style wrestling, seek out CZW tapes. The days of the original ECW are long gone. Hell, it wouldn't even fit in the current landscape of wrestling. Additionally, if you want to see future talent, today in the WWE, go watch NXT. You won't be disappointed.

Media reported that Benoit considered being on ECW a demotion.

Dirtsheets reported that Benoit considered being on ECW a demotion. Fixed that for you. Only dirt sheets would say something like that.

Did WWE have full control over the booking of ECW, or was Heyman having a high say of what went down? How long did they last in the Hammerstein Ballroom and what was the reason they left? Was Angle heated for having to be on the ECW roster at the time, and Benoit as well? If anyone wants to throw in any other info I'd appreciate it. Just wondering about this. Random Sunday thoughts... lol. 1. Heyman was very involved in running ECW initially, but he didn't have full creative control or anything like that. After December to Dismember 2006, Heyman lost a lot of his stroke. McMahon was not happy w/ the PPV and made a lot of changes before the event aired. 2. They only were in the Hammerstein Ballroom for a couple of special occasions. They went on tour w/ Smackdown and the show was taped prior to Smackdown tapings. 3. Angle, Benoit and Big Show were handpicked by Heyman to be part of the WWECW roster. They were the draws that were meant to get casual fans interested in the product.

I bought December to Dismember and it was truly truly awful.
It started off awesome with the Hardy Boyz vs MNM and fell off a deep steep dark cliff and blew up in a fiery explosion immediately after never to recover.

Media reported that Benoit considered being on ECW a demotion. Nancy Grace also thought Benoit thought it was a demotion to be apart of the Four Horsemen.......

You know what's sad about the re launch of ECW...Had the show been called ANYTHING other then ECW, It would have attracted the very crowd it alienated. Had it just been called like NXT or something, But it had a more hardcore style of wrestling, It would have simply been an alternative that someone LIKE an ECW fan would enjoy (or at least be more likely to enjoy). All comparisons made to ECW would have been a good thing because its a show of its own similar to that of ECW
In reality naming it ECW doomed It from the start because the second it wasn't the original ECW, The fans turned on it. Had it just been named something else, WWE wouldn't have insulted the long time ECW fan into saying "ah this isn't ECW"...they never gave it a chance
it wasn't a bad show for what it was, But unfortunately it was a terrible ECW show
