So is WWE once again destroying the tag team division, but this time on purpose?
PTP just broke up. The Shield is headed that way as well. The Rhodes are on their way to splitsville so they can have their match at Mania. And now there's tension with the Real Americans.
I would have liked to see the PTP and the Real Americans hold the belts.

I honestly have no idea what's going on. This has happened before, too. It's like they spend all of this time and attention (rightfully so) building up a competitive, reliable base of teams and the tag division starts thriving, and then they start picking them off one by one. The division fades into obscurity, and then a year or so later, they get the itch again and start the cycle over.
It sucks, because there is some really good tag wrestling going on right now, and it does indeed look like a majority of the teams in the spotlight are going to be split up sooner than later.
WWE seems to have this idea that every team has an expiration date and every person in a tag team has a singles career ahead of him. It's like being in a tag team is just a stepping stone. That's true for some, undoubtedly, but it's not the case for the majority.

I have a feeling the Usos are about to get a very Hart Dynasty like tag title reign in the coming months.
It really is a shame. I feel the division was really starting to hit its stride by the time the Usos vs Shield vs Brotherhood match happened. It just opens the door for new teams and new talent, but I do wish WWE would commit to long-term tag teams again. Otherwise, we won't get future generations of teams like the New Age Outlaws. Sometimes, guys are just great tag team wrestlers, and that's ok. Not every tag team ends up like the Rockers, Hardys, and E&C. Sometimes just having a Dudley Boyz type of team can be legendary as well.

I had this thought last night actually, I hadn't watched Smackdown last week so Titus' heel turn was a surprise to me.
I'm pretty disappointed honestly. You mentioned all the teams on the verge of breaking up so no need to repeat them but the tag division was looking great for awhile. The teams weren't necessarily the best but there were more teams than we've seen in years and actually brought some competition to the division. I'm hoping they start bring up some tag teams from NXT so we get some new faces to revive the division. As punksnotdead said, not every team has to end up with a break out star/future champion, being a career tag teamer isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Once they've given up on someone being a singles star, I don't see why the powers-that-be don't just let them be semi-permanent tag wrestlers. I miss the days of tag teams staying together for years.

Yeah, it's weird.
They spent a lot of time rebuilding the tag division only for it to go pretty stale.

You're going to have this because there are no REAL teams anymore. Putting singles wrestlers together and calling them a team is garbage. Unless you have teams that have been teams for years in the Indies and bring them in as just a tag team who focus on just Tag Teaming then you will never have a tag division as there is nothing to hold on to. WWE missed the boat I thing with The American Wolves. They could have been a great Tag team to go against the Usos.

WWE missed the boat I thing with The American Wolves. They could have been a great Tag team to go against the Usos. This isn't always the case. Alot of times, throwing two guys together just becomes organic. The Dudleys, Beer Money, LAX, Los Guerreros, and New Age Outlaws are prime examples of a thrown together team that not only worked and got over, but did so for awhile. But I do agree. The onlu TRUE team in WWE is Uso's. The Colon brothers worked until the gimmick change which now seems to be all about El Torito. PTP worked. Real Americans work. Sheild work... The problem is, the writters don't like to keep things going. They have the 3-6 months chang-up routine, and tends to kill teams when they start to gain momentum. I want a team to stay a team. These said teams need to last not months, but years. Thus becoming a brand in the tag division, and a reason to become a team in WWE to beat that team and become champions. Teams in the 90's wante to beat Demolition, Steiners, LOD, Harlem Heat, Nasty Boys... Late 90's 00's was to beat the Hardy's, Dudley's, and Christian/Edge... Then, through out the 200's and 10's, teams came and went like a fad. The last team that felt organic and had that IT feeling was The Hart Dynasty. 2009-2010... Carlito and Primo was gret aswell. We need that magic of a team again. Uso's in my opinion are te future right now. They have the family legacy, the talent, an are young enough to start a foundation if being the team to beat to make a name for themselves.
