Yeah I said it. I need to applaud how WWE is handling Daniel Bryan. I think Bryan vs Triple H is easily the hottest match going into Wrestlemania this year. Also, just listen to the crowds. Bryan's overness is really something special. The crowd was so hot and loud for that segment last night where the Authority was belittling Bryan. It was to the point where I could barely hear Triple H and Stephanie. And people can cry all they want about WWE burying Bryan but it's so the opposite. WWE has made Bryan the biggest star in the company right now. The crowds love him and week after week he has some of the best segments on the show. If WWE didn't dangle that carrot of Bryan being "held down" people would care that much. The key to any good story is conflict for the protagonist. Bryan has plenty of that in this story.

Thanks for making this thread.
I thought the booking last night was fantastic. I got mocked last night for saying this, but to me Bryan looked like a million bucks at the end of the night. All while Triple H gained the mega heat this feud needed. This should steal the show at Mania, can't wait!

I'll never claim that he's being buried. It doesn't mean that he is being used correctly either.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I personally think every single thing you said is flat out wrong and couldn't be further from the truth.

This is the equivalent of taking CM Punk when he was red hot and putting him against...
Kevin Nash.
I can only assume Daniel Bryan will defeat Triple H at Wrestlemania and "earn his respect" so he gets a title shot at Extreme Rules and blah blah blah.
The only problem is that Bryan is red hot WITHOUT Triple H's endorsement. Extreme Rules may be too late. Batista vs. Randy Orton is looking to be one of the worst Wrestlemania main events in years. It's going to be heel vs. heel unless they add someone and make it a triple threat just to cover up their utter failure of putting Batista in that match.

If they don't make him WWE Champion at Mania, then no, they haven't handled him correctly. Bryan beating Triple H isn't bigger than Bryan being put over as the man. I don't know how this is even still an argument. Also, the fans were chanting for CM Punk half the time Stephanie and Triple H were talking, so take that for what it's worth. Eventually, the fans are going to give up. Yes, we're an impatient audience, primarily because we live in an ADHD society, but the truth of the matter is that every individual has an emotional breaking point. Mania will be that point for a number of fans and I don't expect Bryan to leave WWE Champion. So any title run for Bryan after that point won't have been the culmination of what it could have been had they done it at Mania. You strike while the iron is hot. Right now, the iron is white. You could very well end up being right, but your just the other end of the premature spectrum right now. Once Mania is over and we know how it plays out, then you can kiss WWE's ass for burying(kayfabe) Bryan for months on end to get him over. With or without Mania, the fans got Bryan over. It was the fans that still chanted Bryan's name despite WWE sticking him with the Wyatt's, and attempting to flip him heel. It was the fans who got behind Bryan with the "Yes!" and "No!" chants to turn him babyface to begin with during Hell No's run. It was the fans who kept chanting Bryan's name when WWE ing fired him. I don't know what WWE you're watching, but the one I see is a company who watched a guy get over twice as huge as their "biggest star", and then they stuck him in a feud that is essentially meaningless for Mania, at least as it stands.

This. Also, why does he HAVE to defeat Triple H to get an endorsement? He's gotten over just fine so far without ever stepping in the ring with Triple H. So he beats him and then what? Who cares? Triple H wrestles a match or two per year. What's the big deal? Bryan deafating Triple H won't hurt him but it certainly won't help him either. It will become stagnant.

Yet people want him to have the belt so bad.
Say he wins the title at WM, then what? it's not going to make him more over, not going to win him any more fans. The story will be done then his fans will start to become quieter and quieter, then he'll lose the belt and people will have a bitch fest and cry for him to be champ again.

Of course Bryan doesn't NEED to beat Triple H and yeah Bryan got over by the fans. But while the fans chant for Bryan, they wouldn't be as loud and vocal if it wasn't for this story. I don't remember ever hearing the crowds so loud for Bryan. I think a lot of people are forgetting that wins and losses and title reigns aren't all that matter in wrestling. Good story and good matches are what drive the business above everything. I personally think this is a good story and Triple H can still put on some great matches.
Also, I think a lot of this has to do with Triple H having a reputation of holding people down. But what Triple H said last night was pretty much true. Guys that didn't make it in WWE didn't make it because they weren't good enough. Take Bryan for example, he was good enough, so WWE gave him the support he needed to really break through. You gotta help yourself first. WWE helps your star shine brighter, but it's up to you to keep it lit.

Honestly, I liked last night with Bryan getting pedigreed by Triple H, cause it builds the match up more and more and more, then at Mania, Bryan beats HHH, everyone goes YES! I mean why does Bryan HAVE to win the title at Mania? If you look at the storyline, Bryan keeps getting screwed by the Authority from the title. He won the title at Summerslam, got pedigreed by HHH, gets screwed. Bryan then wins the title again at NOC, gets stripped because the referee did a fast count. Everything is about Bryan getting screwed by the Authority. Even after he was out of the title picture, he was screwed "in storyline" at the Rumble by not being in the Rumble, he got screwed by Kane at the Elimination Chamber PPV. So the payoff will be Bryan beating HHH at Mania, and then getting involved in the title picture after. That's the way I see things happening, cause honestly I can't think of anything that Bryan can do with the World Title that will get him more over as others have said, or even something I will care about. If he has the title, I got what I wanted, others got what he wanted, so after they get what they wanted, what's next, Bryan gets a year long run like I've read others say? That is definitely not going to happen.
Also another thing, I know how people like to compare Bryan's popularity to Steve Austin, but I actually see more of Mankind in this storyline than Austin, cause I remember back when they had the tournament at Survivor Series, McMahon did everything possible to have Mankind be in the finals, only to get screwed by McMahon and the Rock because the face of WWF, the corporate champion. Then Mankind kept getting screwed until he finally won the title on a RAW with Austin's help. So this storyline between the Authority and Bryan, if anyone wants to compare something from the Attitude Era to all of this, I would compare Bryan to Mankind, not Austin.

I agree. I have said for a while that the excitement and money is in the chase. There is much longer and better entertainment value by making this a long, trying ordeal for Bryan. People have been complaining for ages that the WWE hot shots storylines too much. But here, they are practically making the fans explode with excitement and anticipation for Bryan to finally come out ahead. I'll be honest, it's the most compelling thing they have done since the first pipe bomb promo. I think just putting Bryan in a triple threat with Batista and Orton would be less than what they are doing with Bryan and HHH. Hell, they are playing this whole thing up specifically for the IWC. I think beating HHH at WM will be better in the long run for Bryan and everyone. Sure, I would enjoy seeing WM close with a giant yes chant and Bryan with the title. Hell, it COULD still happen. Odds are it won't. But that is ok. Even if that moment doesn't come until later. I'm ok with that. Because I know everyone thinks HHH is literally Hitler, but it will happen. Just like it did with Austin. And honestly, they are pretty much ripping off that whole storyline. I practically expect Bryan to drive in with a V8 truck and spray it all over The Authority at some point.
I understand being disappointed. I think too often people take wrestling so seriously, they start to look at it like an actual competition instead of a scripted story.
Anyway, I think they have done a great job with Bryan and I am looking forward to HHH/Bryan more than any match at WM.

Agreed. Bryan vs Triple H is easily the match I'm looking forward to the most. Far better than Punk vs Triple H would have been.

The fact of the matter is WWE is missing a huge opportunity with Bryan not winning the belt at Mania. It would truly be one of the greatest Wrestlemania moments of all time. Certainly bigger than anything we've seen the last ten years. Anything short of him winning the title will be a major bummer and a huge missed opportunity not just to put Bryan over, but to put the whole company over because moments like that are what is best for business.

I agree with this, and much of what punksnotdead expressed earlier. I thought the work between Bryan and Triple H last night was fantastic, but anything short of Bryan leaving the title at Wrestlemania is still a horrible creative decision from where I sit. It just doesn't make sense. But hey, I don't write the show, so it is what it is. As great as their work may be together, and as good as the match may be, I can't get excited about it, because I agree - defeating the Authority isn't the payoff, winning the championship in spite of the Authority is.

I agree with points on both sides of the argument. I'm watching this thread closely though because it has the potential to become abusive.

It's happened already.
