So there's actual legit talk that Furniture Row could just completely shut down at the end of the year if they dont have a sponsor. What does that say for the sport when you can win a championship and then completely close your doors 2 years later. Bass pro didn’t renew with Truex?

Someone get a Mr. Burns "Excellent" GIF to represent Joe Gibbs right now...

I just recently saw an article that talked about teams that shuttered within a year or two of winning a championship when there was talk of FRR selling.

Only 2 I can think of hand is whomever owned Rusty's car in 89 before he went to Penske and Yates winning in 99 I think it was but they stayed around for a few more years ibthought.

I didn't honestly remember how recent, but I know it won't be the first time, should FRR shut down. It would suck, but MTJ is my dude, so wherever he goes, I go.

It sucks. FRR was the true underdog of NASCAR. But costs are rising to run a team, and no one can expect Barn to keep paying for it out of pocket, like he was when he put Furniture Row/Denver Mattress on the car. Looking forward to the next announcement of MTJ to the 19 with Bass Pro and Auto-Owners Insurance, Suarez to the 95 with Arris, and LFR switching back to Toyota with a tech alliance formed with JGR.

Poor Truex, This is why I get angry when no talent rich kids like the Dillons get handed rides while true talent is shut out.

That's a bummer. Feels like the Cup Series, or NASCAR in general, is on life support and I don't know when or how this happened. Just seems like slowly over time they've been losing popularity and money at an alarming rate and I'm not sure if I should blame Brian France/Mike Helton or the economy or another entity.

People aren’t spending money on a sub par product. Look how many rule changes, inconsistent races there have been. It isn’t cheap to go to the races anymore either

I feel bad that Daniel Suarez is about to get shoved aside into some mediocre team because Toyota feels like they "need" to keep Martin. It's counter intuitive to what Toyota and Gibbs have been doing with their developmental programs. Barney gets to go set on his pile of money.. Truex gets to move to Gibbs with Cole.. and Suarez has his entire career derailed because FRR can't sell sponsorship. What a s***y deal.

Well that is disappointing news and not a good look for Nascar. FRR had a great run though in this era of huge teams even though they had help from JGR recently.
I know Osterland sold his team the same year after Earnhardt won the title in 80 and Beadle sold out in 1990 after Rusty's win in 89.

Gibbs has about the deepest stable of developmental drivers and willing sponsors in the sport yet continues to choke the line off by putting in his Cup cars established names like Edwards and Kenseth and, now likely, Truex. Working the system by having veterans piloting his rides at the top and attracting top young talent to share all his Xfinity cars. Doing good for him, not good for the sport itself.

I ing hate this. Hope Suarez winds up in the #41 next season and finishes ahead of every single Gibbs car that isn't Kyle next year.

Sucks for Suarez but honestly I never really thought he was that great. He's not a terrible driver but his ceiling to me is 1 maybe at best 2 wins a year and the majority of that will be from the ride he's in.

I don't know if Suarez has any interest in F1 but there's plenty of rides open as of right now for next year.
