...Was ECW's Living Dangerously 2000 on pay per view, from Danbury CT. I was there. Having been to the first ECW show in Danbury (which was a house show, in which Jerry Lynn suffered his ankle injury that year), I was disappointed that RVD and Sandman had flight issues and couldn't make it. Tommy Dreamer came out at the start to announce this fact, and told us that to make up for it, Danbury's next show would be a taping for TNN. We were all surprised when Living Dangerously 2000 was announced as taking place in Danbury. Suddenly, I made my spring break plans super-fast, from my college a state away. I had my mom tape an envelope containing $100 onto the garage door, so that my best friend from high school, Mark, (who went to the first show with me) could buy my ticket for me, and take what I owed him from the last ticket. From there, another dear friend from Ireland (who was then working in California at the time), made the grand plan to fly down and join us, as we had both dreamed of attending an ECW show together. So there the three of us were. My buddy from Ireland front row, and my other friend and I five rows back.
In the morning, Mark and I attended a personal appearance for Rob Van Dam. It was the most pleasant experience of meeting anyone in my life. He asked my name, shook my hand, signed the MOC Series 1 OSFTM ECW figure of himself, as well as the first ECW N64 game cartridge (I still have both). Then, he and Fonzie took a Polaroid with me, before saying goodbye to me, by name. Just a pleasant experience all around.
Sure, the show itself had production gaffes and miscues, and it suffered from a depleted roster at that period, but it was a fun show I'll always remember. I got to see Dusty Rhodes wrestle a match in person, as well as be close enough to see myself during the opening crowd pan...
ECW did come back for a Danbury TNN taping, which we both attended. It was an hour of TV where I could stare at myself in the crowd on the screen. Finally, we attended the last ECW show in Danbury, another house show. Great memories. Thanks for letting me share.
