Ok so its back over to Vince and the WWF for our next obscure gimmick in Battle Kat
Hmmm. Battle Kat was a strange one.....I believe this gimmick only lasted a month or two but more interesting is the man that played him....Mr Dean Peters.
Peters was an inspiration to RVD and went to high school in Minnesota with Rude, Nikita, Darsow, Zenk & Hennig.
He was also Brady Boone(billed as the cousin of Billy Jack Haynes)for most of his WWF run.

Jesus. I forgot about this completely. Even for the time it stank to high heaven. Now that I see it I remember laughing at it with my friend and making He-Man jokes.

Let's Not forget to give Credit to Bob Bradley, for Taking over the role when Peters Left, and making Battle Kat even more hilarious, with his awkward dance moves, lol

Looks like Vince's answer to Tiger Mask lol.
In all honesty, I don't dislike this gimmick.

Didnt Boone carry this gimmick outside of WWF ,except using different colored attires and being billed as Fire Cat? Seems like Fire Cat lasted longer on the indy circuit than Battle Kat did in WWF.

I don't know man? It would be interesting if he had!! I did a little research this weekend and found out Boone did indeed continue ,post WWF, under the gimmick with name changed to FireCat. He aappeared for Herb Abrahms ' UWF . Probably where i remember seeing him do the gimmick myself. And also had a measure of success in Florida winning the Suncoast Tag Team titles. I did not know that. He continued to perform that gimmick from time to time in the early 90s.

Move over Battle Kat... Make way for Nailz Sheesh! Yes, maybe someone can enlighten me as to what the hell exactly happened to Kevin Kelly that brought him from the tanned pretty boy with built body into Nailz. During his AWA days just 4 or 5 years earlier, he seemed to be in line for a major heel push. Hehad Madusa for a manager, Gene Kiniskis son Nick for a partner, and a pretty decent little fued with fellow heel Curt Hennig going on. Seemed to be a prime star on the rise. Then he just disappeared and fell off the map......at least seemingly. Then all of the sudden in 92 ,he shows up as ........this. A total departure physically from what he was and of course creatively as well. Too bad he didnt end up around long enough to see where it went. Ive often wondered if his missing years actually saw him go to prison or jail, explaining both the gimmick and the drastically altered appearance.

Yeah, Battle Kat was a pretty horrible gimmick. It was like the crowd didn't know what to make of him. From the clip posted, he really wasn't that good of a wrestler. Looked pretty sloppy in there. You can't have that with a new character and gimmick. If he were a better wrestler, who knows how far this gimmick could've went.
I just think based on the first impression and because he wasn't that good a wrestler, the fans disliked it from the start.
Also, just to point out from the clip, they dubbed over his original entrance theme:
Here's the original full match with intro:
