I think all of the "nostalgia," reunion shows that go back to when I was in middle school, all of it...I'm so sick of ECW. It had a lot of great stuff, but it lasted about eight years, and has now been dead for 13. It's not absolutely all over the place anymore, but it's still prevalent via DVDs, the Network, and I imagine there are still reunion shows floating around out there somewhere. I feel like ROH will go down as more influential in history, and full of individuals with more actual talent. Anyone sick of ECW?

Its not like they take a huge chunk out of there television programming to talk about it. I can't even remember the last time they did. People clearly buy the DVDs, otherwise they wouldn't produce them. Therefore, I don't really think people are sick of ECW.

You pretty much contradicted yourself there. It hasn't been around for 13 years, so how can we be sick of it?
Yes there are apparently a lot of tribute shows (none that I've heard of besides the two One Night Stand shows) but why shouldn't there be? You must be sick of WCW and the Monday Night Wars too then, cause WWE puts out a lot of DVD's about them too.

This would be a valid statement to make in 2010. Do you see Mattel making ECW action figures? Do you see WWE pushing ECW beyond mentioning it when they talk about the WWE Network? Do you see an overabundance of reunion shows? (Only current one is Extreme Rising, and it's not even fully ECW) Heck, barely anyone on any forum I've been to talks about it. Where did you get this idea that people would be sick of ECW when it's barely ever mentioned anymore?

Not sick of it so as to imply it's still active, but sick of "it" - the phenomenon, the nostalgia product that WWE uses its image for.

I'll say that there's less of it out there than in 2010 and years surrounding that time frame, but there's still more of it out there than I wish there were.

It makes sense because ECW made a big impact. It's no different than WWE talking about Stone Cold or the Attitude Era.

The Attitude Era was a golden age though that all of pop culture stopped to admire, and they're willing to acknowledge the silly stuff in that era (Mae Young's hand, Mark Henry's transvestite - which were all hysterical, by the way). It almost seems like WWE worships ECW and doesn't acknowledge that it had a whole lot of boring workers too, and ridiculous angles.

Nope, i'm actually hungry for some more ECW. I LOVE ECW. In fact its my favorite wrestling promotion of all time. People buy the DVD's and those type of DVD's educate the younger fans that missed those glory days of ECW which is a great thing to do IMO. I have only been to one 'reunion' type of show and that was Extreme Rising back in December at the old ECW arena and it was ing awesome! I feel the exact opposite, I feel the WWE doesn't mention ECW enough.

I wouldn't say WWE worships ECW, they just give them the credit they deserve. They probably don't talk about the ridiculous stuff in ECW, because there's no reason to. Think about it, if you're trying to sell an ECW DVD, what are you going to talk about? The ridiculous lesbian angle or that awesome promo Shane Douglas cut? It goes back to what Paul Heyman used to say. Accentuate the positives, hide the negatives.

I was never a big fan of ECW anyway. I hate most hardcore wrestling, but the technical stuff they had in the early days was terrific.

I just bought ECW Unreleased Vol.2 this past weekend and passed on Best of Nitro Vol. 2, so that says something. Thoroughly enjoyed watching it all. I've been watching the ECW PPVs in order on the network about one every 2-3 days. Thoroughly enjoying that too. I'm looking forward to having the full run of Hardcore TV available on the network. It is my favorite promotion of all time as it had a little bit of everything. I won't ever get tired of watching anything from the original ECW.
I am not interested in the reunion shows that attempt to recapture the spark. Without Heyman behind the scenes it isn't the same. Heyman caught magic in a bottle and had the right mix of wrestlers to make it all work. ECW between '97-'99 was better than either WCW or WWE imho. I don't think even Paul could duplicate that magic today.

Never.
I've loved ECW since I saw it for the first time, and it helped open my eyes to wrestling on a different scale, in terms of just about everything - it'll always be special as it helped change the business forever.
