www.cbsnews.com/news/stephen-colbert-to-replace-david-letterman-on-late-show/Some of the best parts of the Colbert Report is when he is actually speaking out of character, and just reacting to the world around him. So as much as I love the character from the Report, I'd have to say I'm pretty excited for this. Also, this will surely lead to a pretty epic ending of the Colbert Report, along with Dave's send off. Thoughts?

I really wanted Fergusen to be the guy who replaced Dave, but Colbert is pretty much the only other guy I'd watch in the role so I'm actually kinda excited for this.

Good for him, although I'm surprised Jon Stewart wasn't approached first (or perhaps he was.) I know he has a lot of other commitments, but he seems to fit the late night talk show a bit more than Colbert. Regardless, I'm a fan, and look forward to seeing what he does with the show.

I'm surprised I didn't think Colbert would want to do it. So is he going to stay in character for this?

That is the appeal! I don't even know who Stephen Colbert is.

Colbert is a pretty witty guy. It will be interesting to see what he can come up with. Letterman hasn't been funny in almost 20 years. I think sometimes guys find their niche and ultimately keep delivering the same show night after night. It happens to all of them eventually. Dave was great though pre Late Show and in the beginning of the program.

I was hoping for Chelsea Handler but like Wayne Brady said she's too balls to the wall for it. But I'm very happy Colbert got it.

I mourn the loss of Stephen Colbert, the character, but I will be very interested to see how Stephen Colbert, the guy, does in this new role! Happy for him. Not a Fallon fan so I wish him the best of luck!

I was hoping they'd take a shot at Conan. But it may not be so bad with Colbert.

I was hoping for Conan as well, I just can't see Colbert being a main network, late night guy. Hopefully he proves me wrong though.

The Colbert report is over? No more super conservative Colbert? Will he still be afraid of bears? So many questions. My heart is broken but in an also excited for him.

I think Conan has grown stale. He seems un-enthused and bored over at TBS and the past couple years have exposed his bland, repetitive schtick. This is coming from a huge Conan supporter.. Use to love him. But Conan seems to just be a shell of his former self.
Having that unfunny talentless hack of a sidekick in Andy Richter makes nothing better for him.
Colbert is a great choice.
