I don't know if this has been discussed before.
But seeing as Hasbro pretty much made half hour commercials for their toy lines that we all grew up loving, do you guys think a new WWF cartoon promoting the Hasbro line would've worked? I know the WWF had Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling, but I think a WWF cartoon inspired by the WWF Hasbro line of the early 90's would've been awesome.
So, seeing as cartoons can't just update the roster of characters on the regular, which series line do you think would've been the best one to headline a WWF Hasbro cartoon? Meaning the way they appeared as action figures is how they would appear on the series (color scheme, look, etc.)
Personally, as much as I like series 1, I think series 2 has a lot of the more popular characters most kids grew up liking. It would've made for an awesome cartoon.
Hulk Hogan with Hulkster Hug! The Ultimate Warrior with Ultimate Slam! (white tights) Honky Tonk Man with Rattle and Roll! (with guitar) Dusty Rhodes with Dust Buster! Rowdy Roddy Piper with Piper Punch! Jimmy Snuka with Superfly Slam! "Macho King" Randy Savage with Macho Masher! (with crown and sceptor) ("Macho King" on the back of tights) Hacksaw Jim Duggan with Hack Attack! (with 2x4) Ted DiBiase with Million Dollar Stomp! (Green Tux; with Million Dollar Belt)"
Although, I wouldn't mind a Mr. Perfect and Rick Rude to even out the heel side. Ha

As a lover of Hulk Hogan's Rock N Wrestling, I would have watched the hell out of that show.

If Sunbow was in charge of the cartoon, then yes. But unfortunately at the time of the Hasbro WWF toys, Dic would have been doing the cartoon and it would have been terrible. How to tell the difference? Sunbow did all of the good episodes of both Transformers and GI Joe (pre-movie episodes), and Dic did the terrible ones in the late 80s and early 90s.
Also, any character from series 1-4 would have been worth watching in a cartoon, I think.

A Hasbro cartoon would have been great but so much was changing at the time, the cartoon would have to keep up with the change. With the Rock N Wrestling, there weren't major changes until late 87-early 87 with Piper and Andre's turns.
By 1990, no longer was Hogan the main guy. The cartoon would need to see a few episodes based on Warrior and a few based on Hogan, equally. Andre was on the way out and Bossman was turning face which were big deals. With 1991, Slaughter the turncoat would be too much for a cartoon. I could see Earthquake as the main heel group leader. By 1992, I don't think Bret as a cartoon could be a headliner and there were too many changes during the 92-94 time period to keep up with a cartoon.
I could see Comedy Central doing a WWF cartoon in the late 90s, though.

Does anyone know why Hulk Hogan's Rock N Wrestling hasn't been released yet on DVD?

There's probably a lot of licensing/money complication tied up in the release, mixed with a relatively low demand. For even though everyone in this forum would buy it, as a whole that isn't a big enough number.

Only thing I've seen close to any of that are old episodes of Raw.

There is still a lot of stuff to come.

Yeah, I remember WWE announcing for sure that the Monday Night Wars was going to be an original program for the WWE Network. I imagine it'll be similar to the show they had on the WWE On Demand channel. Hopefully, they throw in a few statistics for each episode and keep it neutral. Ha.
I haven't heard of Hogan's Rock n Wrestling being added to the network, but that would be pretty cool. As corny and old as it is, it can't be any worse than Slam City.

I don't think the need to be concerned with whether or not they can or should release all of their content at once. They could start airing a different show everyday for a solid year without ever running out of back catalog (now that they own almost everything), and that's not even counting new programs.

I loved finding the Rock N Wrestling VHS tapes in stores around the mid 1990s. Since the real wrestling tapes were so expensive, it was a great alternative for a kid. I just can't remember which stores I found them in.

Could you imagine an X-Men The Animated Series type opening with all the faces and heels running toward each other?
Great idea, great thread!

I'm surprised that with the talent on this bord and other boards like it, that this very idea has never been worked on.
