So I have an interview tomorrow for Head Boy at my school, for the next academic year. It may not seem like that big a deal to some of you, but personally its something that I have always kinda wanted, plus I guess it would look good when I am applying for University in September.
So was wondering if anyone had any interview advice or tips?
Interested to hear what you all say.
Cheers.

be calm and be yourself. The more relaxed you are the more confidence you will exude. Respect the process obviously and all that it entails but just be cool and take your time answering questions.

Wear pink and walk into the interview with your mouth open. I'm sure you'll be a great Head Boy.

eye contact, act enthusiastic, good posture/ positive body language.
also, if you're anything like me, DON'T PREPARE TOO MUCH. nothing works worse for me than trying to remember what i want to say and how i want to answer questions. familiarize yourself with what you might be asked (and in this case think about WHY you want the position because that's an obvious one they'll ask) but don't try to prep too much. being natural counts for much more in my experience.
for some reason i have a great track record with interviews so take it for what it's worth but this is all i really do.

Here's a tip: think of every possible question they'll ever ask, answer it briefly in your mind and REMEMBER IT.
I did the same for a previous interview, worked alright but I answered it in too much detail so... yeah.

I always have a 1 beer, before an interview helps me stay calm.... I'm not saying get drunk but find something that we'll help you calm your nerves. Most people screw up interviews because they are nervous.

What the is Head Boy? Yeah what the is a Head Boy? Basically the head master's bitch. They're seen as an authority figure for the pupils. Someone who helps organise events/take care of the students if they have any problems. Well, that's what they're supposed to do, whereas mine(I can say this as he's one of my best friends) did absolutely all Tell them what they want to hear man! Q: So, why do you feel you'd be suitable for the role of head boy? A: Well, I believe that I am approachable, and so the pupils can feel comfortable in coming to me and confiding in me. I also believe that creating a school community is the key to having a successful school, and I want to create this. I want to make the school a happier environment for everyone to be in. If someone has an issue, I want them to be able to feel comfortable in expressing their concerns without feeling scared or that they will not be listened to. I want to be that ear for them to voice their concerns. Basically spew a lot of crap but make it convincing. Also ramble on about how you want to open more doors for the pupils, giving them more opportunities to further both their education and their real life experiences, with opportunities such as helping out with events like 'Kids' Day Out' and with more opportunities like Sports Leadership(not sure if your school does this, mine does so think yours might). Also don't be too concerned about whether it will look good on your personal statement or not. Better to have experience in whatever you're applying to. I applied for Film and Media, and I have partaken in several film and media related courses/events. I have even had a film screened that I wrote and directed at the Edinburgh Film House. I was only a prefect, but I got a conditional to do my course. The head boy thing will be irrelevant to the uni when they see you have no experience.

Be able to speak in detail about the various items on your resume. Be yourself, act confident, and emphasize your abilities when your are speaking. Have some stories about your experiences and have some questions to ask the interviewer. It shows that your are really interested in the position and want to know more about it.
