The general feeling I hear from people is that they really like it, or absolutely hate it. Not too many in the middle.
As for me, it's one of my favorite shows of all time. Definitely in my top 5. I don't mind the slow, methodical build for storylines, as I think it makes the bombshells they drop mean that much more. This is their last season, and I respect the fact they they are taking the "Seinfield approach" by ending the show before it overstays it's welcome. If you haven't seen it, I HIGHLY recommend it. The first several seasons are on Netflix.

I was contemplating making a thread about Mad Men last year, but had a lot of stuff going on (not in a good way) and was away from this forum for months...regardless, I'm back, and am a big fan of Mad Men, have been since the start... I will admit there have been episodes that have seen me shake my head (same with any show that you are SO invested in, it feels like it's YOUR show, but all up a fantastic show; great characters,(mostly) amazing detail with the culture of the '60s, the relationships the characters had...I'm up to date and waiting for season 7 like HHH316 is...

I've had the first season on DVD for about two years and haven't even started watching it yet.

I love it. It too is one of my absolute favourite shows of all time. I usually tell people it takes about a season to really get into it, but once you get there it's a great ride. I can totally understand why some people might hate it though.

I watched part of an episode of Mad Men and I didn't get all of the hype surrounded by it.

I'm a fan, though I'm ready for it to end. I found most of last season to be a bit of a chore, and I haven't been able to muster up the desire to watch the two most recent episodes after finally getting around to watching the season premiere.

Sorry to doublepost, but someone kind of spoiled the next season for me, in that Neve Campbell will star...regardless, very interesting, look forward to seeing it...

Plus they said in the commercial that these would be the last episodes of 2014, meaning we've got to wait at least 7 more months for the finish.

Does AMC do it across the board for other shows? I don't actually know.
