But I wonder how DC's cinematic universe will or even how they could rival Marvel? It's nearly impossible at this point because DC is too far behind. Marvel Studios is turning obscure characters into hit franchises while Warner Brothers is still trying to figure out how the Justice League will work in live action. WB finally found their new Superman, but it took and underachieving film and an 8-year hiatus. Now they are trying to establish their new universe with two controversial castings, Affleck and Gadot, and with no Flash, Green Lantern, or Martian Manhhunter in the early phases, if at all. That leaves many, many question marks going into SvB.

DC is never going to be Marvel. I think we should all try to accept that. It doesn't mean that DC/WB can't ever make movies the quality of the Marvel Studios releases, but in terms of world-building and creating a half dozen billion-dollar franchises in the next few years, it isn't going to happen.
I'd be more than happy with a Batman vs. Superman movie that doesn't suck, followed by a Justice League movie that gives us a more satisfying finale than The Avengers, then followed by a couple of great Ben Affleck Batman movies. If WB can pull all of that off in the next 5-7 years, I'm going to be thrilled with it. And from a personal level, there is nothing going on in superhero movies right now that excites me more than the prospect of a new Batman trilogy, directed by Ben Affleck and written by Chris Terrio. In a vacuum, those two can probably make movies that are at least as good as anything that Marvel is going to produce in the next decade.
Marvel has the advantage right now (if you care about the whole contrived "Marvel vs. DC movies" thing... personally, I just want to see good moves) because they have such a densely-built, established universe that fans are absolutely buying into. The success of Guardians of the Galaxy is evidence of that (yes, it is a GREAT movie, and the critical reception up front helped it a lot, but let's be real, the Marvel Studios stamp on it is probably the biggest reason why it had a $100M opening weekend). But what Marvel doesn't have is the ultimate trump card, Batman. There is no superhero that audiences flock to more consistently and loyally than Batman. If BvS even remotely delivers, we as superhero movie fans are the true and only winners. I can't wait for 2015 and beyond!

This is a bad move, and it's ridiculous to think March will somehow help reach Warner Bros insanely high box office standards.. Moving this movie to March does it absolutely no favors..
Bad, bad move.

Captain America just opened in April. People are going to see BvS in droves. Bumping it up a few months won't affect its box office take. And either way, as long as it's good, I'll just be glad that I can go to it earlier.

Just saw the Gotham trailer with the Joker hint. I don't know how I feel. I'm excited as for the show having Hugo Strange. But I feel like the next time we see the Joker should be in a major motion picture.

I bet that August 5th movie is Justice League... If that's true, I can see BvS ending with a giant cliff-hanger setting up the continuation in the "sequel" in August.

www.aintitcool.com/node/68276Thoughts? I like some aspects of this(urban legends stance for instance).......But as I have said a 1,000 times I don't really want old man Bats......and that seems to be what's en route.

Have you checked out The Dark Knight Returns? It's been one of my favorite comics since I was in High School. Old man Batman is awesome!

Yeah I read it in 1994 man(and about 20 times since)........ and I think its a great story. But old man Batman is unsuitable for the movies in my book. also why put old man Batman in the Justice League? it limits the sh*t out of future Bat movies too and makes little to no sense. IMO its a mistake. Hope I'm wrong.

Ah yeah he wont be an ol codger but he still wont be in his prime by the sounds of things which IMO? sucks. I like Clark & Bruce being around the same age with Bruce being much more the experienced partner.

Supes was 32 in MOS so Bats will be at least 45/50 in this movie? But I suppose we may wait and see. eitherway my enthusiasm has been dampened again.
