Wrestling/sports entertainment is cyclical at times, this is just another example of it if you look hard enough.

"Wrestling in the middle of the show" *main evented the last 3 ppv's* Okay You know, looking back, it's pretty wild that the WWE did place Bryan's match as the main event at ER. That goes to show that they're placing faith in his drawing ability, at least for now. That's huge for everyone that cried foul during Punk's title year where he didn't always go on last. Maybe it's just me but the Daniel Bryan /Kane match was the least of why if watched Extreme Rules. Evolution/Shield was the real main event, I would say Bray/Cena cage match was #2, and then I guess DB/Kane. Honestly I fell asleep during the last match it was so boring to me I hope they get away from this Kane feud sooner than later, because it is so boring to me. They went through all this when they split from being Team Hell No. And anybody knows there's not a chance in hell that Kane will win the title from him And I don't know how they are going to compare PPV buys from say Punk main eventing to now Daniel Bryan main eventing. Not really much actual PPV buys anymore is it? Everybody just pays $10 a month for the network and watches PPV if they want. Whether Fandango was champion or Daniel Bryan. If they don't like the new stuff, they just enjoy all the old stuff they want to for $10 a month!

I was interested in seeing what they would do, but I too was hoping the feud would end sooner rather than later. But, like you mention about these being "special events," we have to get through payback before they're going to start a big program for Summerslam with Bryan.

if Bryan's career parallel's Chris Jericho... none of us should EVER complain Jericho is widely considered one of the all time greatest. i'm not saying a "top 10" guy, but what I mean is that his career has seen a TON of championships, recognition in and out of the squared circle, regarded as one of the best in-ring workers of the era...etc. a lot of wrestlers would kill puppies to be able to have the kind of wrestling career Chris Jericho had/has so in that respect, yes...I hope Bryan has a career JUST like Jericho Positivity. I like it. I personally still have hopes of Bryan being "The guy" but he's got his work cut out for him.

The comparison can definitely be made, I can see it.
And guys, he's not saying one is better or the other or anything like that, did you even read the post? He's drawn several parallels that make a lot of sense.

Bryan in in a much better position than Jericho was in 2002. Jericho's moment of glory arrived when he beat Rock & Austin in the same night.....and it ended there too. He looked incredibly weak in his defences against Rock & Austin and when Stephanie became his manager it was truly all over.....because he was a bystander in the HHH vs Steph feud. He lost the match in a snoozer which the crowd had no interest in.....why?Because the result was so telegraphed it was unreal. Jericho was NEVER booked to be a threat to HHH. None of this has happened thus far to Bryan......he looked GREAT @ WM and even managed to entertain against a well past it Kane @ ER..... I'll give you all that, Joker. He's definitely in the better position right now, I suspect due to the fact that HHH doesn't appear to be contending for the championship the way he did during Jericho's title run. It's funny, this morning on Jericho's podcast, he talked about defending the title against The Rock and how he had to use literally EVERY heel tactic there was to win. I think he mentioned exposed turnbuckle, low blow, and a pin with the feet on the ropes. It still makes me a little upset how Jericho was made to look so weak at that point. My main purpose for comparison was during Raw on Monday. Being there in person, maybe I got a different vibe, but Bryan didn't get the pop I would have expected. In fact, Cena's post-show appearance got a bigger pop. I guess I see him being slowly "Jerichoed" because, IMO, your champion (essentially the face of your company, in kayfabe anyway) should be the main event. Instead, on Monday, we saw the world championship match, showcasing the top athlete in the company (who, for some reason, is running in fear from the guy he just beat the night before). Following that, we saw a segment featuring an old, racist cartoon-character guy talking about deporting immigrants, who would then be interrupted by WWE's version of Jean Ralphio. That seems a bit backwards to me.

I totally agree that Bryan will end up like Jericho... which is very, very good. Both are huge talents. But I doubt Bryan will ever be "The Man". He needs to main-event a few Wrestlemanias before I consider him a flagship...

I am going to say this with extreme confidence. Daniel Bryan is in a far better position than Chris Jericho was from December 2001 to June of 2002. Jericho's matches with The Rock (Royal Rumble 2002) & Steve Austin (No Way Out 2002) both fell flat. Jericho's purpose was to keep the belt warm for Triple H. Not to mention, Jericho acted as the third wheel. Similar to The Miz during his feud with John Cena at WrestleMania XXVII.
Going back to Bryan/Jericho. The problem with Bryan now is there is a program that is overshadowing the World Championship. The purpose of The Shield/Evolution is to make The Shield look good and elevating them to the next level. You have John Cena is is too busy with Bray Wyatt. There isn't many top level guys you can position Bryan in a feud with. With Jericho, he wasn't even on the card for Backlash 2002. In the end, Bryan is getting a far better deal than Jericho had.

That seems a bit backwards to me. Well if you were there live man? You have a unique kind of insight that I don't have. I will agree though that Bryan should NOT be running from anyone and that Bella's inclusion in the deal is NOT good. Kane should have sneak attacked him on Raw and obliterated him to keep the feud alive.I mean ANNIHILATED him. Then take it from there......payback can come at Payback. but Bryan running is a deal breaker for me. it was sh*t writing.

Hopefully he doesn't end up scooping dog turds for Stephanie McMahon in backstage segments.

Hopefully he doesn't end up scooping dog turds for Stephanie McMahon in backstage segments. Yup....absolute crap in every sense of the word. HHH may have thought it was great at the time to be feuding with the wife and sidelining Jericho......but it led to a flat title win and him being relieved after a month.... The whole thing fell on its face because Jericho was not treatecd a top tier guy. He was treated as a dude who needed all the help in the world to stay where he was.....including hiring the "genius" of Stephanie to counterbalance the fearsome HHH. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ It was doomed to failure and of course impacted HHH's reign.
