100% agree. I had honestly been expecting Swagger to take the title from Ambrose since we saw the Real Americans start to split. It just made too much sense.
I don't like Sheamus. He has no gimmick aside from being Cena Lite, he can't talk, and I've seen him wrestle damn near the entire roster in a series of pretty meaningless matches. He sucked as a heel too. So I don't understand people calling for the heel turn. Maybe that's just short memory but do we really not remember him winning KOTR as a woodland elf from Lord of the Rings? I get that WWE positions him high on their list, but I don't know that he's really that high in the eyes of the fans. I do think he has the ability to have GREAT matches with people, but WWE needs to find a way to make me care about those matches by inserting him into good story lines or giving him a gimmick that can hide his weaknesses.
If I was personally picking a winner, I would have picked Ziggler, or even Fandango after that. Those are guys I enjoy watching. From a booking standpoint though, and based on gimmicks and the ability to build feuds and tell stories, I would have gone with Swagger. Have Swagger win the US Title, add a new member to the Real Americans to help him protect the title, let Zeb continue to be awesome, and then when Swagger loses the title you already have a new tag team in place.
I agree, see the thing is I'm not a huge Swagger fan myself, but a title called the "United States" championship makes perfect sense going to a guy who claims to be a "Real American". Not only that, imagine Zeb Colter's promos emphasizing this point? Bashing all the other mid carders, I could even envision him babysitting the title at ringside and passing it to Swagger clobbering opponents with it, getting old school heat and dirty victories.
And I couldn't agree more at the fact they need a new member with the Real Americans, and it's a great way to fill a void with someone who isn't doing much anyway.
We all know Sheamus is Triple H's workout buddy and gets top dog treatment, I just hope he can bring something to that belt.
