The battle royal should've been won by Jack Swagger? I just think that giving him the United States championship would've made for a beautiful storyline with Zeb Colter emphasizing the belt belonging to a real American. Or is it better in the long run that Sheamus has it? What do you playas think? And if there's already another thread on this, feel free to bombard me with Al Bundy gifs.

I agree. Swagger should have won the US Title on Monday. The story of Jack Swagger as US Champion writes itself. Have Zeb talk about how Swagger deserves to be United States Champion because he is a Real American. You could have Swagger feud with international talent like Gabriel, Kidd, Del Rio, Cesaro, Adam Rose, etc. Hell, you can have NXT talent like Neville and Zayn debut by feuding with Swagger.

I couldn't agree more, plus he'd be more than likely defending it on a regular basis giving the title a little more meaning than Ambrose did during all those six man tagteam matches. I guess I just want the U.S and IC titles to have more storyline exposure if not prestige.

I feel that idea. Didn't even think of that. Swagger would make a great US champ these days.
Plus, I want WWE to make the US title the 2nd Place Midcard title, with the IC title being the more prestigious one. Sheamus is pretty established for the most part, so he should be in the IC league, not the US one but I guess WWE isn't taking it that direction.

Nah, Ryder or Ziggler should've won it imo.

And if there's already another thread on this, feel free to bombard me with Al Bundy gifs. There isn't another thread but that ain't gonna stop me! but seriously, always had a soft spot for Swagger and would have preferred a full fledged heel to have won it. Face champions are boring...

Didn't JBL mention this during the match?
"A Real American wins the US Title!" or something like that?
It would have fit.
The thing that really annoys me though is that Ambrose didn't win. WWE have spent the last year pretending like he isn't the champion, and now that his storylines get interesting with The Authority forcing him to defend the championship in these insane matches, he loses the title. That's creative for you.

Personally not a huge fan of Swagger, so I didn't want to see him win it.

Sheamus has more credibility and I think that's why they gave it to him. I am pretty sure he is going to join up with Evolution too.

Yeah i guess he should have won but I'm still OK with the outcome, I'd personally rather have seen Fandango win it.

I think the reasoning by the OP is very sound and genius. The programs Swagger and Zeb could open with international superstars on the roster while flagging their all-American gimmick would have worked well for all those lower mid-carders.
But it looks like they're doing a slow-burn heel turn for Sheamus and if that's the case, he might put over Ziggler or another mid-card babyface when he does drop the belt - but for heaven's sake not to Kofi!!!

Honestly . . . Sheamus holding the US title makes it have some meaning again . . swagger wouldn't have had the same impact.

100% agree. I had honestly been expecting Swagger to take the title from Ambrose since we saw the Real Americans start to split. It just made too much sense.
I don't like Sheamus. He has no gimmick aside from being Cena Lite, he can't talk, and I've seen him wrestle damn near the entire roster in a series of pretty meaningless matches. He sucked as a heel too. So I don't understand people calling for the heel turn. Maybe that's just short memory but do we really not remember him winning KOTR as a woodland elf from Lord of the Rings? I get that WWE positions him high on their list, but I don't know that he's really that high in the eyes of the fans. I do think he has the ability to have GREAT matches with people, but WWE needs to find a way to make me care about those matches by inserting him into good story lines or giving him a gimmick that can hide his weaknesses.
If I was personally picking a winner, I would have picked Ziggler, or even Fandango after that. Those are guys I enjoy watching. From a booking standpoint though, and based on gimmicks and the ability to build feuds and tell stories, I would have gone with Swagger. Have Swagger win the US Title, add a new member to the Real Americans to help him protect the title, let Zeb continue to be awesome, and then when Swagger loses the title you already have a new tag team in place.

I honestly don't think it matter who won the title. Ambrose held it for almost a year and barely defended it. Hell he defended it so few times they brought it up on TV!
Now if Sheamus goes on a tear and defends the title twice a month on TV and kicks ass then we can come back and talk about this because then it'll mean something.
Right now It's a glorified accessory so who holds it doesn't matter.

If Sheamus holding the title will "elevate" it a little, I don't have a problem with that. But then have Swagger beat him for it. It would be a good rub for him.
