Hey guys, reporting this a couple days late.. On Wednesday afternoon I dropped by the TRU near my job in Melrose Park, IL. As I walked in I saw the slimy, unkept chubby manager, I was surprised to see they had the Jim Ross BAF set, but noticed there were no Axels. So as I'm checking the figures out I notice that the manager is frantically right behind with pheenish desperation. As I stepped aside to see the new basics he launched straight to the new set and grabbed the 3 Punk figures, and scurried off. I decided to follow the tubby troll, and saw him at the customer service desk, I asked the employee at the electronics desk if he was putting those aside for someone, and she said "oh no, he's buying em to sell on ebay". I find it amusing, and upsetting that someone would be so petty. The guy was not too bright, because I was in a suit, and for all he knows could've been a mystery shopper, or toy rep, and he blatantly scalps. So if you are a collector in the Melrose Park Area, be warned, you may not find what you're looking for. LMAO Are you talking about the gentleman who is chubby? Usually wears a Yellow shirt? Glasses? Light brown short hair? I was at that same store, that same day. I went to look at baby stuff with the wife but once there I went over to look at the toys. I noticed they were in the middle of restocking the shelves that day. I got there and noticed they put out Elite 24. There was no Trish. Then I noticed they had restocked the battle packs. They had 3 Bellas, I thought about picking up a Bellas set but I already have 2 I plan on selling. Then I noticed the BAF figures. It looked like they had put out one case. I was counting the figures in the BAF set when I noticed a Curtis Axel. At first I didnt realize what it was, I didnt know they were making a Curtis Axel in elite style. So I grabbed it. I finished counting the figures and it seemed like they had just put that case out. I bought the Axel figure. Could it be that he saw me buying the Axel and ran over to see what was left? I wouldnt be upset with the Manager in this case, he bought 3 Punks, the figure that will undoubtedly warm pegs every where. They still have plenty of CM Punk from the Heyman BAF. Also the guy prob makes a couple bucks more than Minimum wage. So if a perk of his job is that he gets dibs on new toys I say so be it. I remember when I worked at a store we would cherry pick stuff every now and then. It was prob the only perk we had at that job. If you really are upset call corporate and let them know. I dont see anything wrong with him being a customer of his own store. But it is kind of messed up that he'll prob hike the price up on those toys. You'd be surprised but those store managers actually make more money than you'd think.

Because no one here buys a figure and sells it for more than it is valued.

Theres a reason why people who scalp for example like concert or event tickets is ILLEGAL in some states. Its unethical. They did nothing to create, promote, distribute, design, etc these products. But of course, some wise guy will justify it for themselves like usual. Is this a serious post, or was this simply done for comedic purposes? If the latter...bravo sir! If the the former...lol, what?

I would be so pissed at this. An employee at my TRU acknowledges that they have about 2 scalpers coming in on truck days to make purchases, but I have never heard of a TRU manager doing it. It's bad that the employees that he manages knows of his doing, setting a poor example, but it is even worse that he is doing this while customers are in the store shopping!

One of the TRU around me has a rule they don't let anybody buy more than 2 of the same figure. It's awesome cause cuts down on scalping & kids get a chance at it,
but what if you wanted one for you & knew other people who wanted/needed it so you were going to buy it to help them out..
I say as long as they have the money to spend, more power to them.

What if the OP had pulled the manager aside and black-mailed him into purchasing the Punk for retail, threatening to report him and complain to higher authority? lol I probably would've done something like that

Doubt corporate would even waste time looking into it. But does suck. Wasting time and gas to go search.

Damn people these days. A manager scalping his own stores products is crazy. Telling corporate won't be doing much but saying something to his face will. If you have to...

I think half the employees at my TRU are scalpers.... I know at least two of them are.
That's why I hardly ever even go there anymore, all the good stuff is taken before it hits the shelves.

When I worked at Toys R Us nobody cared about the figures and my manager could not care less about the wrestling toys. He mention to me that he makes a great amount of money and is usually transferred from store to store to be a manager. That's pretty bullcrap for the manager to do that I would recommend reporting him.

Here you guys go, a little advice. All employees at TOYS R US wear red shirts, all management and staff. Stocking/back of house employees might at times wear black shirts. There is only one person in a Toys R US that wears a Yellow shirt, and it definitely isn't the manager. Yellow shirts are worn by the store's APS (Asset Protection Specialist). He can get in great amount of trouble, as one of the things he is suppose to do is make sure employees are being honest. I am an APS for a store in south Florida. Go straight to the store manager with the situation. It is a fireable offense. If the guy isn't fired, go to the district manager or higher up in corporate.
Figured you should know before possibly ruining the real managers job.
