Hey everyone. Anyone knowledgeable on Dick Tracy merch? Appears to be 80s Playmates. Dad bought 4 tubs worth of the stuff and has no idea about any of it.

If you have a figure called "The Blank", you're in for a lot of cash. Can you post more pictures?

Yeah, The Blank is the holy grail of Dick Tracy collectibles, at least from the movie merchandise. You'd be looking at somewhere between $400-600 MOC for that one figure alone. If you do have it, please take pictures.
Most of the other figures go for between $10-15 MOC. It looks like there might be some unique stuff in there though that people might not have commonly purchased and kept in the box. You might want to do a quick sweep of ebay and see what some of that went for on the completed listings.
$40 seems like a steal though.

Dude, I am jealous. The Dick Tracy movie and it's merchandise is so cool and classic. You definitely got a good deal for $40 for all that stuff.

The only thing good about the Tracy stuff was the little PVC guys they came out with. The figures are on par with the TMNT. They suck! I hate them! But the PVC guys I wish I had again.

The Blank was the only figure I didn't have. It wasn't until years later that I actually saw it in person at an antique shop for $40.

If a sealed copy of the Danny Elfman score CD is in there, you may be sitting on a pile of cash

Then again the PVC guys were made by Applause, not Playmates. I have no idea why people like playmates stuff anyways. All of their figures pretty much look identical. TMNT, Dick Tracy, Cows from moomesa etc. All squat heavy and ALL based on animals that look like people. I hate the entire concept. I love MU, Mattel WWE, etc. How is that for some positivity?

The figure collecting scene wasn't ready for premium, $20 toys in 1989. The 7 inch MMPR figures with awesome articulation is the first line of tie in figures that I can remember being "premium" or whatever one would like to call it.
Truth be told, while figures for the most part are light years better than they were back then, it was cool being able to have your TMNT's, Hasbros, Galoobs, Robocops, Dick Tracy figs, Swamp Things, DC figures, Toy Biz Marvel figures all mix it up in the Hasbro ring back then.
I remember a Beetejuice figure having a killer referee outfit. I loved that Beetlejuice line...you could say they made for some nice f&cking models HONK HONK

HAHA! Beetlejuice as the referee. Yeah I admit when Hasbro died I had to do some of that too. I used Toybiz figures to be wrestlers. The Thing was there and Human Torch was HOT PANTS Eddie Gilbert.

I'm a massive fan of that movie. I wish I could have found that stuff for $40.
Can't wait to see what all you got.
