Would you guys try a Kick-Starter for Flashback figure ?
I have watched a few company's bring in new toy lines and extend current toy lines using Kick-Starter. Have you guys ever thought of using this as a exclusive way to get Flashbacks or even Current stars out in figure form?
As an example. An Elite 2 pack of The Outsiders. You could say you need a goal of $100,000 to finance the figures to be created, if said goal is reached, at $150,000 we could get a nWo Hogan or Syxx figure.

They'd have to be $100 per figure with the amount of people who would throw down for a kickstarter of a specific figure. I love the kickstarter idea, just don't think there is nearly enough wwe figure collectors online to support it. Also, if they have the authority/license the creation and district of a superstar, chances are, it's already being planned for a release

No, a 2-pack could be like $35 and a single figure could be $20. I know people would pledge a couple $100 for resale value.

I don't think a company the size of Mattel will mess with Kickstarter campaigns. They do basically the same thing with some pre-orders though, like Castle Grayskull. It's not going to happen with WWE though. They already tested how big the hardcore WWE Legends-buying fanbase was with the MattyCollector line in 2012. The test came back "not very big at all."

Maybe we, the forum, should start a kickstarter to get Ringside to do a Wrestlemania X-8 Jericho.

It's a nice idea, but even MDT said they wouldn't do such a thing since it would take over a year to do, or some other reason I can't remember.

True, and a pre-order system would work too. But that was 2 years ago. They may have a stronger collector base now. I have noticed in my area, WWE figures fly off shelves faster, as opposed to 2 years ago. This community has grown since then too. There are always collectors coming and going, but, in my opinion, it's always good business to gauge your audience. When was that last time Mattel did a WWE poll other than the Lex Lugar attire poll? The Legends line poll for Matty?

They did the one poll on WWE.com where fans said they wanted Mike Tyson more than Ric Flair or Goldberg. There was also the poll on who would be the seventh repaint in that TRU pack: www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=32576436&cp=&parentPage=search

So it seems Mattel makes a figure ( Flair) the. Gauges the audience to see how much interest there is, and how they should release it?
It's time for a change. Let's try a new approach Mattel!!!

Just wwe.com screwing around. I forgot about the Toys R Us pack... Is that out yet?

I'll donate 50 bucks towards a Barry Windham Mattel figure.

A cold reality is that Mattel is gonna do what's best for Mattel. Releasing Demolition Crush over Kona/Evil Crush is a perfect example of that.

There are very few people that id do this to get a figure of...the only ones that come to mind are lesser guys like Gangrel, Headbangers, Blue Blazer....guys that I know would never be in the regular line that I loved as a kid.

That what I'm aiming towards. Mid Carders from the late 80's to early 2000's. Savio Vega, Tajiri, Raven, Doink, Kona Crush, Nailz, Headbangers, Kronik, Syxx, etc...

Yes, and by extension they will do what the majority of collectors want so they can get their money. Hogan, Razor and Sting are inevitable in my opinion because of this fact.

Pretty sure this would violate some kind of company policy or what not. If anything they'd run a preordering system through a site like RSC.

Don't know if anyone has ever read '100 Bullets' before, but there was an issue with a great line about how the only conspiracy theories that ring true are the ones with the ring of a cash register behind them.
I don't think Legends Poll was real. I think it was hoopla to make us all abuzz about the figures, but we knew about most of the prototypes before they even announced doing Matty exclusives. They made people whom they were already slated to have made in the cancelled legends line and who they thought were going to be hot sellers.
Another issue with the polls is the ability to cast your vote as many times you would like. The honest to God truth on that lies in the fact that it is not about getting an accurate gauging of what people want but getting the loser with no life who clicks to vote a million times and make the interest level look inflated. Really, think about it, if Presidency votes happened like this with an internet minority ratching up the number of ballots cast, we'd be referring to Ron Paul as 'Mr. President' right now (and that's not a jab against people who like Ron Paul, but more of a comment on how much of an internet darling he is and a testemant to the power the internet has of making small vocal minorities heard).
To the point on limitless voting and/or casting multiple ballots, when American Idol allows someone to call and vote more than once, we are no longer getting an accurate idea who the fanbase truly wants to hear and instead it becomes 'How much time and effort do the fans of X have to devote to making their guy/gal win?". And the numbers produced sound so much more impressive; if the show has 300,000 viewers and they all vote 30 times, 9,000,000 makes for a hellof a more significant number to tout. And then, of course, someone with a devoted set of fans like Reuben Studdard wins despite the fact that I've never heard anyone mention or like the ass hole and Clay Aiken is a second place runner up and nearly a household name and darling of Grannies everywhere.

Soooooooo...... You like the idea? Hahah I definatly agree with your rant. A Pre order system would get us unique figures for us, and an exact number to produce for Mattel. I think it's win-win. Unless people just don't pre-order.
