Hey all you New Yorkers (and those who've been there before)
I am considering taking a trip to New York City the first week of December and I have a couple of questions.
What is the weather situation like? I know it will be cold and that I need to layer up. But what else should I know about the weather that time frame?
What are the best pizza places to go to?
When do all the Xmas decorations go up?
What are some good things to do Xmas wise?
What is a good area to stay in for first timers wanting to do touristy stuff?
I should mention that we are into history, and I am a complete foodie.
Thank you!

I love New York City, I have been there countless times. I know do the tree is normally up right after Thanksgiving and usually stays until after New Year's if I am not mistaken. If I am just on a day trip with nothing planned, I usually check out FAO Schwartz, Toys R Us, Nintendo shop, and NBC Store and have lunch at The Plaza Hotel. The Plaza and FAO are off the beaten track if you want to stay close within Times Square though. The best pizza place I have personally ever had in NYC was on Bleeker Street, forgive me for not knowing the name of it, if I can remember I will add it later.
If you're into it, I would recommend trying to hit up a late night show, I believe Jimmy Fallon is the only one left in NYC now. I saw Fallon when he did Late Night, John Cena was on the show right before WrestleMania a few years ago. Definitely a fun experience and free too. A cool thing to do is The Top of the Rock, I believe it's called. It's a ride to the top of 30 Rockefeller Center. I have never personally done it, because my girlfriend was always afraid of heights but it's something that I would've loved to do.
The 9/11 memorial and museum might be something that interests you as well. There is also a secret burger/shake joint in a hotel. I honestly do not remember how to get there or where it is, but I am sure a simple search on Google will show you. If you're into music history, Strawberry Fields in Central Park is a historic place that The Beatles wrote a song about. There is a John Lennon memorial there as well.
Being from PA and NJ, I never actually stayed overnight in NYC except once and I didn't sleep, so I am not too sure of any decent areas to stay. If you can afford it, Times Square has plenty of hotels but parking will cost you as much or more than a hotel room.
If I can think of other cool stuff, I will post it.

I'm from Scotland and one of my bucket list items is to spend Christmas in New York City. I want to see all the sights, go shopping, see the big Christmas Tree and free my inner Kevin McCallister. As well as go to a WWE Live show that they usually do at MSG after Christmas.

It's going to be really cold so pack accordingly. As well as crowded during Christmas time. Times Square is a must see though, it's insane. I'd say you should stay in New Jersey. New York is incredibly expensive when it comes to hotel, there are a few hotel's not very far from New York. There are good pizza places pretty much everywhere, pizza is god no matter where you go in New York.

As a foodie, you need to visit:
Dominique Ansel Bakery - dominiqueansel.com - However, you need to line up around 6 AM Shake Shack I hear is good
Go to various sites that list all the places that were on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives or Man Vs. Food and check out some of those places. Check out the episodes on YouTube.
Go to the Comedy Cellar or Carolines on Broadway. The listings are always fake for the Comedy Cellar, I once saw a show with Chris Rock & Robin Williams because they decided to jump on the set. You'll get a good comedy show always.

It's really weird depending on the winter we are having so you would just have to look ahead. I go into the city a few times a year so here's how to have an awesome time in NYC Also they usually start decorating after Thanksgiving
-Visit the huge Macy's, it's a Christmas wonderland - M&M's candy store - Empire State Building is awesome - Take a picture outside NBC Rainbow room - Toys R Us in Times Square - Actually just appreciate Times Square - Wear a NFL jersey of whoever the Giants or Jets are playing that weekend and get heckled - Picture outside MSG - Ice skating. Rockefeller is cool but there are others that are cheaper and not as crowded - Get tickets to Knicks game or Rangers game. It's an awesome experience
Some dos and donts. - Be careful walking through the parks - Don't buy any clothes on the street - Don't let anything stick out of your pocket otherwise it's good as gone - Stand on the subway so you can get on and off. - Take the subway or walk, don't take a taxi , it's cheaper and faster
Pizza is good anywhere in New York, also try an authentic New York Bagel.
Have fun

I like going to NYC but I only go in the summertime. I'm in Chicago so it's pretty much the same thing. But anyway, talking about New York gives me an excuse to post this video.

The weather is fairly cool in the early part of December. The temperature doesn't get insanely cold till the end of the month. If there is a snowstorm in the early part of the month, prepare to wear gloves, and three/four layers of clothing. I would suggest planning your tip now and look for the cheapest deals. The hotels in Manhattan fluctuate day after day. As for attractions, find what you are interested in. There is a little bit of everything.
The 9/11 Memorial & Museum would eat up so much of your time. Prepare to devote three/four hours of your time. By December, One World Trade Center would be completed. If you must get around town, fork over $31 on a 7-day unlimited ride Metrocard. It grants you unlimited rides on the local buses and subway. You can track the buses in New York City now so you'll know when the next bus will arrive.
There is a ton to do. Depending how long you'll be staying, try to experience as mush as you can and sample the food. Have a safe trip and do as much research as possible.

I know of a small pizza place, across the street from my old apartment in the Bronx called Golden Pizza. Delicious, big slices.

Or come to Chicago and be on my podcast. Can we record a podcast while standing in the alley behind CM Punk's house?

Can we record a podcast while standing in the alley behind CM Punk's house? You could try and get Punk on it...but he would probably just walk out. "We're crouched behind the fence that is sitting behind CM Punk's trash cans. We've been sitting here for seven hours now with no sight of Pu-... OH OH HERE HE COMES! HERE HE COMES! PUNK! PUNK! PUNK! WHEN ARE YOU COMING BACK TO WWE?! WHEN ARE YOU COMING BACK! PUNK! IT WAS ALL A WORK RIGHT?! RIGHT!??!" *Punk walks away* "OH, SO YOU'RE GONNA WALK OUT AGAIN HUH?! YOU DICK, YOU WALK OUT ON EVERYBODY!"
