Can someone please enlighten me on Mattel's reasoning behind this with Flashbacks? It seems that people on this Board have stated that Crush in Elite 28 and Andre in Elite 29 will not be included in second wave cases. In my opinion, this is absolute garbage. Up here in Canada these figures will be difficult enough to find as it is without the "short-packing" coming into play!

Probably because certain flashbacks don't appeal to kids and therefore might not sell? I have no idea but this seems like the most logical reason.

But Andre is plastered all over WWE TV which makes it hard to believe he would be not desirable for younger collectors.

Because the market for wrestling figures is much bigger than just us Wfigs members who collect the old guys. Old guys are a niche. This is the way we get them. It would be senseless of Mattel to overpack the old guys, find they don't sell well enough, and then have to stop including flashbacks at all.

I wish they'd at least have all 6 characters in each box, even if it's just one per case. I'm sure it's just something retailers demanded.

Most of the time there is only of the Flashbacks per box anyway! It's the duplicates of Mark Henry that sit Forever and ever and ever. Andre the Giant would NOT shelf warm.

Certain figures including divas don't have the same mass appeal as others so they are short-packed so they don't end up warming the pegs for ever. (Elite Finlay and Basic Mickie James come to mind)

I think it's faulty reasoning on Mattel's part to short pack some of the guys they have.
Hence the reason my Targets are still full of modern roster shelfwarmers. Whereas the flashbacks are gone first day.

What I want to know is why do we get revision cases first near me, and the original cases later or not at all? So they can guarantee we can't find the 0.5 per case figures? Nice.

That's why I never see any "old guys" anymore and yet there are 300 kofi Cena and big shows sitting on my target shelves. And it's been this way for over a year. They need to smarten up and stop short packing the hot sellers.

True, however if they switched it around we'd have stores filled Crush, Bruno(who in my area sold VERY poor) and people would be making threads as to why Undertaker is being short packed, plus mattel would lose sales from their main demo(kids) At the end of the day Mattel has to do what makes them money(and EVERYONE here would do the same) and the first legends line ended up having to be Clarenced out to $3 in order to sell, while those 3 per case Cenas are moving just fine at the MSRP makes their case.

I get your point. But you're talking about Bruno Sammartino, a wrestler from the 1970's. I'm talking about guys from the 90's who are gone as soon as they hit the shelves. Like the guy in your avatar pic. Which Undertaker still falls under the category of. I don't think they should "switch it around," just stop with the shortpacking.

Mattel always has to play to the collectors mentality. If something is hot then collectors will pick it up right away, if it's rare then they will pay any price... If there is a massive glut of something that isn't moving they will wait it out for a clearance. It's just the way it is when adults buy toys.

Whereas the flashbacks are gone first day. If my Target got two cases of an Elite set with 2x per Flashback, the one other adult collector in town would buy one and those three other Flashbacks would sit forever. People who want Flashbacks of guys like Crush are a very small minority of the fan base and collector base. Kids don't know who Crush is.

Ever notice that with the BOPPV series the one you need to complete your BAF is always the shortpacked one?

Hahaha. i understand the reasoning behind short-packing the fbs(this line in primarily bought by kids who dont know who they r) but that junk never made sense. especially stupid that the short packed figure on the jim ross set is a first time elite. smooth move mattel.
