Paul Heyman appeared on Wednesday's Talk is Jericho podcast and talked about CM Punk leaving. Heyman said that the only thing about it that surprised him was how long it took.
"He was unhappy," said Heyman. "He had enough. He couldn't take it anymore… A year before he walked these was daily conversations of, 'I don't think I'm going to be able to take this. I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to be here. I don't know how much longer it's going to be before I just decide to go home.' I'm surprised it lasted that long… Every day with him was an exercise in him finding the balance to simply continue on and find the passion he needed that he to do it. And I think what happened was he walked in the day after the Royal Rumble and he couldn't find that passion. He couldn't convince himself or persuade himself, 'OK, whether I'm happy or not this is about the performance, my legacy. It's about I take pride in what I do. And whether I'm happy or unhappy when I go out there I'm going to be the best CM Punk I can be.' And I think somewhere during that day he couldn't find that."

People wanting an explanation care. The anti-CM Punk sentiment around here is pure douchery, this is no exception. If you truly didn't care, you wouldn't have taken the time to post in the thread. Instead, you made some failed attempt at humor in order to disguise your self indulged neediness. |

People wanting an explanation care. The anti-CM Punk sentiment around here is pure douchery, this is no exception. If you truly didn't care, you wouldn't have taken the time to post in the thread. Instead, you made some failed attempt at humor in order to disguise your self indulged neediness. I'm a big fan of CM Punk, but the anti-Phil sentiment isn't pure "douchery". It's very valid. Seeing multiple threads a day on these boards about (again, he's my favorite) Punk is beyond tiring. Maybe it's because I heard this on the actual podcast, but Heyman talking about Punk WASN'T EVEN THE BEST PART OF THE EPISODE! |

Regarding the "Punk Hate", were people like this with Austin when he walked out? I wasn't. This largely has to do with the IWC needing to have a very loud opinion on everything nowadays. |

I was waiting for someone to say this but honestly, I was saying that I believed this is why he left. In my opinion, an explanation means nothing in this instance unless it is from the horse's mouth himself. I totally see where you are coming from though man. Punk is in my top five all-time, but it didn't piss me off that much that he left. It opened to the door to one of the greatest 'Mania moments of all time when Bryan won the belts. |
