I'm headed back home to Florida from North Dakota. I'm really nervous. Like more nervous than usual. It's not a panic attack that I'm experiencing , but I feel like I'll never make it home. planes! I shouldn't feel this way. This is my 26th flight in 4 years. So, my question is, does anyone get nervous or unbearable nervous before a flight?

I've never been on a plan but I know I'd freak out if I ever did. My friend is a nervous flier and he usually drinks before the flight so he can just sleep through it. Wish I had more/better advice.

I think everybody does.
It's a control thing for me. I don't mind flying but I hate having NO control over the situation should something happen.
I basically just look at it as a Greyhound bus in the air. Same thing.

The last time I had been on a plan was I would like to say 14 years ago and can't remember anything of that trip, but I am not really afraid of heights or anything like that just I prefer to travel car, bus etc and seen movies that involve something going wrong with the plane and I'm like nope no thank you.

I haven't been on a plane, but the thing that scares me isn't crashing, but being in the air and not being able to get out. I would feel like I was trapped.

I flew on a military plane once with ROTC. Everyone but me and like 2 other people were puking everywhere.
Never felt like more of a man.

I don't get nervous on planes. If I had a choice between car or plane, I'm going with the plane 99% of time. statistically speaking, you are far more likely to get injured/die in a car accident than on a plane.

Yeah but that statistic is skewed because there are far more cars on the road than there are planes in the sky.

I don't get nervous. But one thing that I do hate is having sensitive ears. God damn does it hurt.

I love flying. Don't care if it's take off, landing or just flying itself I'm always completely relaxed. The key is to embrace what's happening.

I don't get nervous at all. I love being on a plane, even wandering around the airport beforehand can be relaxing.

I find it really funny that all the people here complaining about being the air are those from the US while the rest are from the rest of the World.
I personally have no problems with planes, I've been on plane rides which went up to 14 hours and overall have done around 60 hours of plane flying, the whole time I've never been apprehensive to it and love the whole experience, the take off, flying, in flight entertainment, landing, only bad part is checking in once arriving at places and being half asleep.

I blame Hollywood. Seriously, 80% of movies where planes are featured there's a problem. But it's really a safe way to travel.
Really the only nerve wrecking thing about flying is after takeoff before the plane steadies. Chew some gum. Listen to some music on your headphones. Much better taking 2 hours to get somewhere than 8 hours is how I look at it.

I love being on planes. The take off is a rush and the landing is ok. I love turbulence! It's like a roller coaster ride. It's VERY strange to say but if I had a choice in how I'm going to die, it would be a plane crash. There is just nothing you can do but laugh and Dr. Strangelove it till you hit the ground. It's actually kinda scary that I'm fascinated with plane crashes. I dream about them quite a bit and I watch the videos on youtube. I've watched the 9/11 videos countless times. NOW don't take that as I think they are cool! I do not and wish I could trade my life to bring them all back. But just the visual of this big plane flying into the building. Wow.

Yeah but that statistic is skewed because there are far more cars on the road than there are planes in the sky. You are also a lot more likely to survive a car crash than you are a plane crash, if it happens. That being said, I get nervous during take off and landing, but once in the air I am good unless there is major turbulence. Then it gets a bit worrisome.

I get more nervous just going to the airport. The thought of having to go through security, taking your shoes, hat, and jacket off. Being probed or groped. Or that X ray Scanner that shows all your bits and pieces to some random stranger. Having to pay hundreds of dollars to ride a plane just so some one can tell you what you can and can not take with you. Knowing the government and or a private security firm is watching your every movement, judging you scrutinizing you.
I really hate everything that is involved with air travel/airports.
Once all that is through though I dont mind the actual plane ride itself.
I once worked for a company that dealt with transporting goods to and from aircraft. It was a nightmare. I had to go through so many hoops just to get a badge to be able to access the airport. Then after that everyday that I showed up to work my car was searched, my bio metrics were scanned at every entry, my work truck was constantly searched, I would be pulled over randomly for Id checks, it was such a BS hassle. I couldnt leave that company fast enough.
