He's growing one me actually. I remember when he was cast as DUke in GI JOE and was so depressed. But since then, he's been doing some decent work. He looks amazing in FOXCATCHER but i think Steve Carrell is likely to get the award buzz from it.

Channing is a solid actor but I feel like he has trouble being emotional sometimes as he kind of has that Mark Wahlberg cry.

I, like many people, disliked him when the buzz around him first started following Step Up. However, he has grown on me and is not terrible. I don't think he's great but maybe this Foxcatcher film will change my mind. I'll be seeing it for sure.

Haven't seen any films he's in. Any recommendations? Watch "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints".. Him, Shia LaBeouf, Robert Downey Jr and Rosario Dawson.. It's a very fine film that shows Channing is talented.

Stoked. Long time Tatum fan. Hope this helps open people's eyes to his abilities. Off topic, but.. What do you think about the 'Gambit' rumors surrounding Tatum that Shuler Donner mentioned? In favor? Its not a rumor, he has been casted as Gambit. My initial reaction is he is not the right choice for the role. I still love Taylor Kitsch as Gambit. BUT....I wont say its a horrid casting until I see him in the movie. Nailed it. I like Tatum and have since Supercross and She's the Man. I don't think he's a particularly great actor but he's definitely improved and Side Effects was a big step forward for him imo. I'm looking forward to Jupiter Ascending too, assuming it ever comes out haha. That being said, he's not Gambit. I understand that he loves the character and has been begging for this part, but even if he delivers a great performance it'll likely be missing that brooding charm that we've come to know from Gambit. This is something Taylor Kitsch had in mounds, but the entire Origins situation was ed because of how they did the timeline and how they presented the character. Plus, they wouldn't let him do the accent. If you've seen Tim Riggins though, that's Gambit with a Texas drawl instead of a Cajun accent. The body frame, the hair, the charm, the weight of the world hiding behind your eyes, guy's got it. I think Ben Affleck is a great actor, and he played Daredevil to the best of his ability, but he just wasn't Matt. That's not to say I didn't like the Director's Cut of DD, because I absolutely do, but when the guy isn't right you can tell. I love that Tatum has enough star power that he'll likely get a standalone Gambit film made. I think the character deserves that kind of treatment and an entire wave of my generation will attest to that, but he wasn't even on my list to play the character, let alone get the part. So all I can do is hope for the best. They ed up by not casting Josh Holloway for X-2 or X-3. They got the right guy for the character in a bad film with Origins. So maybe this 3rd time will be the charm in making the character stick in the movie universe. Go back to 2007/2008 and everyone said that Heath Ledger was a bad choice for The Joker. Once he proved us all wrong I'll give mostly any actor the benefit of the doubt now until I see them. QFT. This place exploded with Ledger being casted as Joker. Lots of "the gay cowboy"? remarks. I also didnt like the Ledger casting at first......but was proven wrong, clearly. That being said....I cant wait to see this finished product. I am hopeful.

Steve Carrell is barely recognizable in this movie.

Does that work if you watch a movie of a woman you like? No. If it did he'd be getting some in the adverts after every Authority scene on Raw.

I'd consider myself a Tatum fan. First I've heard of this film but it looks freaking awesome. That mirror scene. Damn. Intense.

He's not the best actor, but he's good.
But just think about how people talked about Matthew McConaughey 10 years ago. just as bad, if not worse, than Tatum gets now. This year he won an Oscar, and has been in the discussion for a couple of years now.
The work you do to get noticed is rarely your best. I think he'll surprise people in the years to come.

Yeah, if anyone would have told me ten years ago.. Hell, if anyone would have told me 6 years ago that Matthew McConaughey would become a respectable, Oscar winning actor in 2014. With mind blowing performances. I would not have believed you. Not even a little bit.

I knew he had the ability to based on earlier work, but I definitely thought he was set in that laid back movie star role. turns out once he got all the money he decided to take risks again.

Does he!? This is a movie that will more than likely be an Oscar front-runner, and I think we should have it on this site. People should know about this movie, see the trailer and have an idea that it will be one of the top films released this year. I'm just gonna leave this here.... 'Foxcatcher' is an upcoming film by director Bennett Miller (Capote & Moneyball). Starring Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo, and Steve Carrell like you've never seen him before. Based on the true story of Olympic Wrestling Champion Mark Schultz who decides to get justice after schizophrenic John duPont killed his brother, Olympic Champion Dave Schultz.he was really good in "A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints" honestly, I can't see him doing better than that performance...it's not a perfect movie, but he came off as not acting & def wasn't in the 'hollywood' mode of delivering lines in that one this looks like it could be really good though
