Does he!?
This is a movie that will more than likely be an Oscar front-runner, and I think we should have it on this site. People should know about this movie, see the trailer and have an idea that it will be one of the top films released this year.
I'm just gonna leave this here....
'Foxcatcher' is an upcoming film by director Bennett Miller (Capote & Moneyball). Starring Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo, and Steve Carrell like you've never seen him before. Based on the true story of Olympic Wrestling Champion Mark Schultz who decides to get justice after schizophrenic John duPont killed his brother, Olympic Champion Dave Schultz.

Stoked. Long time Tatum fan. Hope this helps open people's eyes to his abilities.

People hate on him because his initial claim to fame was bring a good looking guy in chick flicks.
Dude is legit. His comedy stuff is awesome, his action movies are awesome, Channing Tatum is awesome. He actually seems like a really cool and genuine guy.

I bet he takes his shirt off.
Mark Ruffalo is one the best actors in Hollywood right now though.

Big fan. Have been for years. Wasn't in his earliest roles, but he quickly grew on me.
Stoked for this; stoked for Gambit. What impresses me most, is the same thing as with The Rock -- he actually IMPROVES. You don't have to start out great in your craft, but -- at least work at it, and get better. I have a ton of respect for anyone who learns, and grows, in what they do.

In favor? I was surprised at first but said I wouldn't judge until I seen some footage of him in the role. The more I think about it the more I think he can pull it off well.

Of what I've seen of him so far, he's pretty good in those roles, but this could take him a lot further, we'll see...
He was great on Chatty Man with Alan Carr too...

Even if he's the best actor in the world, he still isn't right for Gambit.
We've seen plenty of pretty good actors butcher comic book characters in the past because they weren't right for the part.

Nailed it. I like Tatum and have since Supercross and She's the Man. I don't think he's a particularly great actor but he's definitely improved and Side Effects was a big step forward for him imo. I'm looking forward to Jupiter Ascending too, assuming it ever comes out haha. That being said, he's not Gambit. I understand that he loves the character and has been begging for this part, but even if he delivers a great performance it'll likely be missing that brooding charm that we've come to know from Gambit. This is something Taylor Kitsch had in mounds, but the entire Origins situation was ed because of how they did the timeline and how they presented the character. Plus, they wouldn't let him do the accent. If you've seen Tim Riggins though, that's Gambit with a Texas drawl instead of a Cajun accent. The body frame, the hair, the charm, the weight of the world hiding behind your eyes, guy's got it. I think Ben Affleck is a great actor, and he played Daredevil to the best of his ability, but he just wasn't Matt. That's not to say I didn't like the Director's Cut of DD, because I absolutely do, but when the guy isn't right you can tell. I love that Tatum has enough star power that he'll likely get a standalone Gambit film made. I think the character deserves that kind of treatment and an entire wave of my generation will attest to that, but he wasn't even on my list to play the character, let alone get the part. So all I can do is hope for the best. They ed up by not casting Josh Holloway for X-2 or X-3. They got the right guy for the character in a bad film with Origins. So maybe this 3rd time will be the charm in making the character stick in the movie universe.

See him in "This is the End", he can be funny.
Magic Mike (I'm a Soderbergh fan!) wasn't bad, 21 Jump Street had funny moments. I don't adore him, but he's not bad, just may choose a role I might not like.

Once he proved us all wrong I'll give mostly any actor the benefit of the doubt now until I see them.

He shouldn't even need to audition, just consider 6 Season's of Sawyer on Lost one long audition.

I hear this a lot. I wasn't one of those people, as I loved Ledger even prior to Joker, but I really believe he's the exception, and not the rule. I think there are far more Topher Grace type casting blunders than there are Heath Ledger home run castings. Usually when fans of the source material complain in mass panic it's for a reason. Although, I don't understand the backlash on Affleck at all, as I think he's a much better fit for Batman than Bale ever was.

Pearl Harbor is on TV now and my brother was just saying "Ben Affleck would have made a great Captain America". I think he's right actually. Affleck is a tremendous actor, and I think he could have pulled Cap off. I'm sure he'll be a great Batman too (even though the films were good, Bale's Batman portrayal is nothing special, but maybe I'm biased because I find Christian Bale to have a very punchable face). If only David Boreanaz had accepted the role of Batman instead of Bale...
