Is there a reason why there haven't been many Marvel games released in the last few years, or have there been and I'm just out of the loop? I know Spiderman has a game franchise going on but why aren't there more Thor/Cap/X-Men/Wolverine/Iron Man/Avengers/GOTG games being released?
If nothing else isnt it a great crossover promotion for when the movies are released? I know a new X-Men game with Sentinels based on DOFP would have been out of this world.
I know the last few weren't exceptionally great but still with Marvel's fan base probably at an all time high is there a reason why we don't see Marvel in video games more often?

I've wondered the same thing.
With the right company Marvel Cinematic Universe (Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy) video games could be awesome.
I know people often hate games that mirror movies but if they made killer games that also followed the films and coincided with the movie releases that would be mind blowing.
Hell I bought Lego Marvel just to have a game that was some what like the MCU.
Its an untapped Honey Hole of cash for Marvel. I PRAY they dive in sooner or later.

Exactly, I mean also look at the Batman franchise, they took one of their characters who was at the box office at the time and turned him into probably the most successful DC venture outside of the Dark Knight Trilogy and their Comics. And that was never based off any of the movies but since the movies were out it created interest in the character. I don't understand why Marvel doesn't do the same. Doesn't make sense from a profitable standpoint. You could have Iron Man w/Mandarin, Whiplash, Dynamo, etc... Thor w/Loki, Malekith, Destroyer, Surtur, Kurse, Laufey Captain America w/Red Skull, Winter Soldier, etc... X-Men w/Sentinels, Magneto, Apocalypse, Juggernaut, Mister Sinister, Dark Phoenix, Sabretooth I mean there are million dollar franchises just sitting on the shelf.

There should be more open world games for both Marvel and DC.

It's because Activision kept making awful Marvel games and people stopped buying them. They botched the last Wolverine game so hard. The Batman games are great. I agree there are limitless possibilities of how fun a Marvel game could be, but as long as Activision is in control of Marvel games it isn't going to happen.

What they said about an Avengers gameSeems to me they want to find the right developers for the job. But a lot of quality developers already have series that they have established that publishers want them to continue so they can keep making money from that IP.

An open world Multiplayer Marvel game would be good Marvel Heroes is an MMO so it may be worth checking out if you're into that sort of thing.

I would say that there's not a ton of DC games as a whole either. There's a lot of Batman games, particularly the Arkham series, because people are into that "gritty" game style right now. None of the Marvel characters that are popular really translate into that type of game.
Just my 2 cents.

I'd love for an Arkham style Marvel game maybe do it with Iron Man.
I'd love a game around the Civil War story arc.

I think the closest we are getting to a decent looking Marvel game on consoles for a while will be the upcoming Disney Infinity 2.0 game. That's going to feature the Avengers, Guardians, and Spider-Man.

I remember putting soooo much time into Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2 with my friend. We loved those games.

Don't worry, Disney will be selling tons of Marvel stuff for their overpriced boring Infinity game.

I remember the Captain America game that was released alongside the movie was pretty good. It was pretty much a poor man's Arkham game, but still good. Better than Origins anyway.
