Hello all, I know this is a convoluted thread title, but I thought it best to ask about these oddities all at once. As an aficionado of documentary films, tv shows (ala true crime), and segments, foreign films, and bio/true crime books, I was wondering if there is anyone in our little community that enjoys them too? What have you liked or disliked? I was hoping others here had similar interests, being that I am always looking to learn something new.
I watched many documentaries in the last little while regarding conspiracy subjects, specific docs like Imposter, and We Were Here. I read books regarding the Zodiac Killer, Corey Feldman's Bio, and In With The Devil (Keene). For foreign films, I watch all types, but the one I am hoping many would like to talk about are martial arts/parkour films.
Thank you all for your interest.

I'm intrigued with the Zodiac Killer case and how it remains unsolved to this day. I read about it in school a few years back in one of CJ books and decided to read both of the books that Robert Graysmith wrote as well as see 'Zodiac' in theaters.

I never watched those specific docs, but rather watched 20/20, 48 hours, etc. on the WM3. The outpouring of support for them was something I had never seen before. VPV

VPV It is one hell of an interesting case. Its so complex and the fact that they still have no answers. Its just so damn compelling. I really recommend checking out The Paradise Lost series. Each film presents more and more information. Even the film West of Memphis is on the same level as those three.

I definitely will, thanks. IIRC, the last I knew, they had dna on the stepfather and his buddy. Am I remembering correctly. Something about a dna on rope? Self-Savior I watched the Zodiac film, which sparked my interest, but there were books by Hodel (Most Evil) and David Silvey (Project Artichoke) that really had me guessing. I like to hear case "facts" first, then read all the "answers" I can find. That is not to say I do not believe the above books, I just know how people take conjecture. VPV

VPV I'll have to check out that Most Evil book by Hodel; seems like a pretty interesting read. I remember looking at the first Zodiac book by Graysmith and it had his rendering of what the Zodiac wore the one time at Lake Berryessa and it scared the hell out of me.

VPV Its been a few months since I've seen the Docs and read up on the case but the last I heard they did have DNA from the one boys atep-father (Terry Hobbs) but don't remember the part about his buddies DNA being there too. I hope they do another doc in a few years. It seems like they're constantly getting new information/DNA/stories constantly.

I'm the same with the tolerance for crazy stuff, but the Zodiac Killer case certainly takes the cake. I think it's just the fact that he was never caught is one of the things that freaks me out the most (even though I know that he's more than likely dead). Plus this costume he wore the one time he attacked the couple at Lake Berryessa is frightening as hell:

I just remembered reading about some other serial killer for one of Criminal Justice classes: The Phantom Killer of the Texarkana Moonlight Murders from the 1940s...just another bizarre spree of murders. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_KillerPlus, they made a movie ( The Town That Dreaded Sundown) based on the killer as well in the 1970s & they're doing a remake of it that's out this year. A little fun fact, the mask that the Phantom Killer wore inspired the idea to use a sack to cover Jason's head in Friday the 13th Part II.

That look for the Zodiac Killer is ing nuts. So simple and yet so damn creepy at the same time. I'm gonna read up on this guy right now. Seems interesting and I've never heard of it before. Edit: Interesting read but nothing too unique to make me dive in and start researching. Stuff like the WM3, Zodiac, Black Dhalia, etc really gets me interested because they're all completely nuts and unique. Also didn't Jason have the hood in the first movie too? Lol

The question that has come to my mind, with the Zodiac playing all these mind games, what if the first cipher really was not solved correctly? Maybe he just said they did, giving the illusion of a step up on him, to the police. The same thought goes for the rest of the ciphers too, except, the question has been raised if they were actually just gibberish, said to include the name of the Zodiac. I would venture a guess that the combination of both could true. His name may be the only non gibberish part of the letter. Or one final big cipher, based on the "solved" ciphers?

Sorry I missed this. BFC was awesome. I know it is heavily controversial, as are all of Moore's films, but that was some definitely eye opening stuff, for me at least. VPV
