Wow that's sad:( I've not watched the show but if Robin Williams was in it, it can't have been that bad. Did it not get good ratings or something?

It started off with 15 million US viewers for the pilot an steadily declined to 5 million US viewers for the final episode. It lost 2 thirds of it's viewership, even if 5 million is still decent.

It's ratings weren't too different than the show "Mom" and that got renewed. I blame the (probably) high production costs and the NFL taking Thursday night's time slot for two months for its cancellation. Which is a damn shame, it was a very good show.

Somehow I think paying Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar would be a lot more expensive than paying Anna Farris, though.

I hope the POS who cancelled it is happy with himself. Wow. This is officially the dumbest thing I've read on the internet today.

So the guy who's job it is to cancel low-rated shows on his network, shouldn't have cancelled a low-rated show because he was supposed to predict the main star would kill himself a few months later? Give me a ing break.

The Crazy Ones was actually really good.

That is unfortunate.
I never really watched it but it wasn't like it was horrible or had terrible ratings iirc.
I think it just missed out on getting renewed but I could be wrong.

I've heard it was good. Wasn't it on CBS? CBS has seriously high standards for ratings. I believe they canceled a William Shatner show that averaged like 10 million viewers near the end of its run.

Sometimes when people are upset or hurt they say things that are insensitive. In those instances, like with Anvil, who has a Williams avi now, we should cut them a little slack. You're welcome, wfigs.

Wow. This is officially the dumbest thing I've read on the internet today. Yeah because Network execs are never morons, and they never cancel shows unless they deserve it. Give me a break. Anvil, you know I like ya bub, and I hate that Robin's gone, and HATE that this being cancelled contributed, but we really can't put TOO much on the decision to cancel the show, on the guy (or likely small board) who did so. I said this WAYYYYYY back when the show first started -- it was fighting a losing battle, with when it was scheduled, the costs of doing it, etc...Robin Williams and SMG aren't cheap. They had a considerably large cast starting out (2.5 Men had FIVE main characters it's first season, before going on to be successful. BIg Bang the same, etc...I recall at least 6 in Crazy Ones) Not to mention Robin only got to shine through in certain points. He was relegated to 'father figure', and SMG got to do the jokes. Not the best decision. The man was in an INCREDIBLY dark place long before this show. Add the drugs, and booze problems. Add the failed relationship history. Add that his last couple movies really didn't get a whole lot of love. Then add that his triumphant return to TV ended like it did...all topped with the gigantic cherry of Parkinson's Disease. There are a dozen people we can clearly point fingers at, probably. There are dozens more who knew him, I'm sure would have seen warning signs, had they just took a second more to look past the smile. We can point, and point, and point -- but he's gone. He made that choice. So we can point the finger at him, too. But we shouldn't, because what he suffered was not his fault. And really wasn't the fault of those around him. Depression is an infection that mutes it's victim, and then becomes quick sand. How can we blame the victim when they're swallowed alive? How can we blame those who COULD have helped, when they can't hear the cries for help that would otherwise come? This is terrible, because the man made so, so, so very many people happy. It's terrible because he swallowed his pain, got up, and turned it on every time he was called to do so -- but we don't know how he was in those months off at a time. He may well have been running on fumes for years. The only ones I feel worse for, are his children. May he rest in peace, and may they FIND it. And I pray that any of his fans that have been dealing with this disease get the help they desperately need. There is no shame in seeking help. A person's life matters. Even if you can't see it in a dark moment. I've dealt with it since middle school; 7th grade was the first time I thought about taking my own life. It's been constant ever since. Help hasn't made it go away, but it's often more manageable than it was prior to doing so. GET HELP. That's the positive I hope for, from this very sad situation.

There's a difference between "that show didn't deserve to get cancelled, whoever did it is a moron" and "I hope this POS is happy that he killed Robin Williams".

Not sure where you think I said that, but I absolutely didn't. There's a difference between "that show didn't deserve to get cancelled, whoever did it is a moron" and "I hope this POS is happy that he killed Robin Williams". When did I say that he killed him? He cancelled a show that had no business being cancelled, and his moron decision has lead to this. Yeah, he must just take a magic 8 ball every summer when it's time to decide which shows to renew. By the way, recent reports are that Robin relapsed during the filming of the show. I suppose the execs are to blame for that, too? Evil.

You are blaming a network exec for killing Robin Williams by cancelling his TV Show? Wow that is just silly. Aging actors face this all the time, in fact, just like the article says, look at Deniro, Pacino, and others who don't get very many roles anymore, and find it difficult to maintain their lifestyle.
I was a fan of Robin since Mork and Mindy. But the show was not very good, and the declining ratings reflected that. His name drew a large audience it at the start, but once realizing it wasn't very good, most people got off the train. Also, he told people he was upset that he didn't even want to do the TV show but did it for the money. It's not like it was a passion project of his.
I hate that this happened, but only he really knew why he did what he did. I know you're upset and angry about it, but trying to find someone to pin that blame and anger on is pointless.
